As they got closer, they discovered an old waterproof backpack, badly faded and not recently buried.
The backpack was mostly stuck in the mud, so they had to dig it out.
They used short knives to clear the mud.
This game really tests everyone's cleanliness.
The soft soil allowed them to quickly pull out the complete backpack.
Without gloves, they used the clothes they had just changed out of to open it. When they looked inside, Ye Nianchu froze.
Inside were supplies, and the most important thing—a weapon!
A gun and three bullets.
In real life, this type of weapon was from ten years ago.
After checking, it still worked.
The location of supplies in this game was unusual.
"Could they give us more bullets?"
Once they moved the backpack, they found something else in the dirt: a complete skeleton trapped among the tree roots. The skull showed it was a male corpse.
Why did the game bring out a skeleton?
Was it a clue?
Qin Mubai looked at the bones, thought for a moment, then pulled Ye Nianchu up and shone a flashlight into the tree hole.
The hole was very big.
Inside, there were many white cocoons tightly packed.
This was the lair of the face spiders!
Had the corpse been eaten and tossed out?!
“Let’s go!” Ye Nianchu pulled Qin Mubai to run away from the big tree.
After a few steps, they stopped again; ahead was filled with face spiders, blocking their way.
The quiet surroundings started to rustle, branches shook, and faces seemed to be watching them.
They hadn’t noticed that the trees were now covered in face spiders, big and small. In just two seconds, the green branches were covered in white webs, blocking all paths around them.
Surrounded by face spiders, they realized:
Just picking up supplies led them to the BOSS's lair.
They couldn’t fight; they had to find a way to escape.
Their homemade torches wouldn’t last; they couldn’t protect them for long in this damp place.
Face spiders rushed at them from everywhere.
What a loss: they picked up a gun and bullets only to find themselves in the BOSS's lair.
Qin Mubai swung his knife to kill one face spider while Ye Nianchu hacked at the webs beside him.
No matter how cautious they were, they couldn’t defend against so many face spiders attacking them.
The cocoons in the tree hole shook violently, and countless small face spiders broke free, revealing that the bodies inside had been eaten.
Some spider silk came at them. The seemingly soft threads left cuts on Ye Nianchu's cheek and Qin Mubai's shoulder.
“I’ll find a chance to break through the webs behind you; you go first,” Qin Mubai said, pulling Ye Nianchu close and glancing at a weaker area of silk.
“What are you saying?” Ye Nianchu chopped two baby spiders, “You can’t break the rules of this game with special abilities.”
Most people never make it past the game's restrictions.
Even if they succeed, there’s backlash.
It’s much worse than regular games—a guaranteed death trap.
Qin Mubai looked at her, a smile on his lips, “Sister, I can try.”
“No!” Ye Nianchu paused, “I won’t leave you here alone.”
She understood that feeling of being abandoned.
The spider silk extended faster than they could cut it, and more webs attacked them. Qin Mubai quickly reacted, shielding Ye Nianchu, but the tight silk left painful cuts on him.
