cysvhhz Chapter 5

[They never expected that No. 707 had already become good friends with the monster.]

[Afraid? No way! No. 707 can even take on nurses; why would he be afraid of just a few people here?]

[……]

[What are they talking about? I’m starting to understand less and less.]

Gu Zhan jumped off the operating table and asked, “Have you eaten lunch?”

He deduced that the head nurse wouldn’t release him so early, so it must be noon by now.

The head nurse :“……”

She gritted her teeth and said, “It is indeed lunchtime now, but today is special. You need to answer questions first before you can go to the cafeteria for lunch! If you fail the questions, you won’t have lunch!”

She couldn’t scare him to death, so she would starve him instead!

[The head nurse was ruthless, but it didn’t work at all.]

[In a moment, all the answers will stun her.]

Those who hadn’t been to Gu Zhan’s live stream didn’t know that he already had the answers.

[?? Where does your confidence come from that he will definitely get all the answers right?]

[Hehe.]

[Haha.]

[Hehe.]

[Has this group of people from No. 707’s live stream gone crazy?]

No one expected the assessment to come so suddenly. Looking at Gu Zhan, their eyes inevitably held a hint of blame.

Gu Zhan also didn’t expect that the head nurse would go to such lengths to punish him, even changing the already determined schedule.

But she didn’t go directly for him, so it seemed she was still bound by some rules…

Gu Zhan stepped down from the operating table. “Let’s begin.”

The head nurse took out the question board for the assessment right at the door of the punishment room and started the test.

“First question: If you go home and see a dead body lying on your sofa with a knife in its chest and blood all over the floor, yet you don’t call the police, why?”

This question was on the answer sheet, and Gu Zhan answered directly, “Because I’m the one who killed him.”

He actually didn’t quite understand these questions. For someone who could think of such a convoluted answer… how could their mind be so divergent? Is this person really within the norm?

Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, the way everyone looked at him was off.

[So long has passed, and the questions in this copy haven’t been updated?]

[Who could think of such a bizarre answer to that question?]

The head nurse asked another question, and Gu Zhan answered correctly again.

Others didn’t look too happy.

Before coming here, they had discussed that as long as they divided the answering rights equally, everyone could pass.

But since Gu Zhan wasn’t present, he naturally wasn’t included in that division.

This meant that every time Gu Zhan answered correctly, someone else would lose a point.

It was as if Gu Zhan knew the answers, answering each question quickly and leaving little space for others.

Wen Ge was getting anxious. Answering questions wasn’t his strong suit. That’s why he had discussed with others to assign one question to each person.

The fourth question was originally meant for the only girl, but Wen Ge happened to know the answer. He tore up the previous agreement and directly took the answer from the girl.

He gained one point, and the looks from others changed.

[No wonder Wen Ge is like that. He clearly had an agreement but still took someone else’s answer.]

[In this situation, it’s impossible to stick to agreements, right? Not snatching would mean letting No. 707 answer them all!]

[You can’t blame Wen Ge; you can only blame No. 707 for not sticking to the agreement.]

[How strange, did they consult No. 707 when making the agreement? Why are they blaming him now?]

Wen Ge breaking the agreement was like a signal. The others no longer cared about the previous arrangement and began to snatch answers.

The head nurse enjoyed this situation. The more these players fought among themselves, the happier she became.

Soon, it came to the last question.

Everyone had already passed except for Wen Ge, who still needed one more question.

Given that there was a prior agreement, no one wanted to make things too awkward, so they exchanged glances and decided to give this question to Wen Ge.

Wen Ge sighed in relief. Thankfully, he passed… and wouldn’t have to face punishment.

But unexpectedly, as soon as the head nurse announced the question, Gu Zhan accurately stated the answer.

The head nurse was unwilling and said, “You answered correctly… plus one point.”

She closed the question board, squinting her eyes as she scanned the room. “Let me see who hasn’t passed… 702! You only scored two points; you did not pass!”

Wen Ge could not have imagined that, despite having an advantage, he would trip here!

He realized Gu Zhan’s score had long surpassed the passing line, and the last question was taken intentionally!

Wen Ge glared at Gu Zhan with malice, his tone carrying a threat, “You deliberately took my score…”

Unexpectedly, before he could finish, Gu Zhan smiled at him.

[My wife smiled!! My wife looks so good when he smiles!]

[?? Am I seeing things? This newcomer is actually provoking Wen Ge!]

[Holy shit, he really isn’t some silent lamb waiting to be slaughtered. Things are getting interesting, friends!]

[Do you remember how he dragged the nurse back to the ward, purposefully crashing the bed against the wall? This is definitely payback! Just thinking about it is thrilling!]

Gu Zhan just smiled; he did nothing.

Even Wen Ge couldn’t be sure whether the other party was intentionally retaliating… he just felt very angry!

Before the two could fight, the head nurse suddenly spoke, “702, go inside!”

They were right at the door of the punishment room, so there was no need to move.

Wen Ge certainly wasn’t willing. The head nurse’s action of pinning him against the wall was still fresh in his memory. He didn’t dare resist and could only walk into the punishment room.

Gu Zhan, who had been standing at the door of the punishment room, stepped out.

As the two met face to face, Wen Ge looked at Gu Zhan with a fierce expression.

He made a throat-cutting gesture at Gu Zhan, indicating that he wouldn’t let him off for this betrayal!

Gu Zhan looked back, but his expression was indifferent.

He wasn’t afraid of the floating heads in the punishment room; he dared to strike the head nurse, so why would he care about a player?

With a loud “bang,” the door to the punishment room closed.

The skull waiting inside had been anticipating this moment for a long time. Finally seeing someone who wasn’t Gu Zhan, it was excited and eager to show this new patient a taste of what was in store, while also reclaiming its lost territory…

Wen Ge was unaware of the Plus version of the punishment room he was about to face. The moment he entered, the lights inside turned off, and a chilling wind swept through the room from an unknown source, followed by the sound of wailing ghosts…

[Hehe, I specifically followed Wen Ge to check out his livestream and sure enough it’s just like that]

[So satisfied]

[I hope that when he leaves the punishment room, he still has the energy to threaten others]

On the other hand, those who had never been to Gu Zhan's livestream room were completely unaware of what had happened.

Seeing the obviously excessive punishment scene involving Wen Ge, they couldn’t help but ask questions.

[Is there something wrong with this dungeon?]

[Can a dungeon even have a BUG??]

Unfortunately, they were not in a conventional entertainment game; once they entered, they had to engage in life-and-death battles in an infinite game.

There were no customer service representatives, no GMs, and naturally, no one to tell them whether it was a bug or not.

Even if it was a bug, no one would help them solve it; they could only resign themselves to their bad luck.

Meanwhile, the head nurse, who had conducted the assessment ahead of time, was dissatisfied with punishing Wen Ge, who had nothing to do with the incident.

She looked at Gu Zhan, contemplating what other ways she could make him suffer… But before she could implement any plans, her phone, which she had left in her pocket, rang.

The head nurse shot a glare at the crowd and warned, “Behave yourselves and wait here.”

Then she stepped aside to answer the call.

Gu Zhan had good hearing and caught her shouting "the director"

Once the head nurse walked away, he could no longer hear the rest.

With Wen Ge still locked in the punishment room and the head nurse absent, everyone exchanged glances, unable to resist turning their eyes toward Gu Zhan.

This good-looking newcomer… seemed like he was more than just a pretty face…

The girl who had initially spoken to Gu Zhan, Zhao Xiaoyue, cautiously approached and said, “My name is Zhao Xiaoyue. What’s your name?”

Gu Zhan replied, “Gu Zhan.”

[Oh ho, finally know my wife’s name]

[Sounds nice]

[Given his looks and his actions these past two days, even the name sounds nice]

The aloofness on Gu Zhan’s face was too evident, leaving Zhao Xiaoyue unable to continue the conversation. But she still asked, “Have you found the answers to the questions?”

Gu Zhan didn’t hide anything and simply nodded.

Although the other players remained silent, their gazes were fixed on this exchange.

Zhao Xiaoyue squeezed her palms together, wanting to ask if they could share answers… But since they were the ones who initially isolated Gu Zhan with Wen Ge, she didn’t have the gall to voice such a request.

Just then, the head nurse returned. The director had just called her and told her not to act out of line, which prevented her from continuing to think of ways to punish 707. She was quite displeased… It seemed she would have to find another opportunity later.

She waved her hand, saying, “Let’s go to the cafeteria for lunch. You have an hour, and you still have thirty minutes left.”

Gu Zhan patted his rumbling stomach and headed to the cafeteria first.

Finally, a chance to eat.

The hospital cafeteria was in another building.

Following the others to eat, Gu Zhan finally saw the whole layout of the hospital… or perhaps it wasn’t the complete layout at all.

The inpatient building where they stayed was on the north side of the hospital, while the cafeteria was to the south. There was a small courtyard between the two buildings. The inpatient building had three floors; the first and second floors had no windows, while the third floor had only a few sparse windows.

Those must be very special rooms to warrant the installation of windows.

In the distance, there was a fountain square, but the path to it was guarded by security, clearly not accessible to them.

The weather was overcast, with dark clouds overhead, but it didn’t seem like it would rain; the atmosphere of the entire hospital felt as heavy as a prison.

They formed a line, passing through the corridor to the cafeteria.

The cafeteria was bright, with two long rows of tables, and the air was filled with the aroma of food.

However, there were no nurses or doctors, and not even a lunch lady to serve them; it was entirely self-service.

The other players had been there twice and knew the cafeteria’s style, so once inside, they went to find trays to serve themselves.

Gu Zhan didn’t rush; instead, he stood at the door, observing the situation inside the cafeteria.

After watching for a while, he discovered that the cafeteria, like the wards, the nurse’s break room, and the punishment room, was filled with pinhole cameras.

Why were there so many cameras?

Time was running short, so after confirming the situation, Gu Zhan went to get his food.

The meals were surprisingly lavish; it seemed they didn’t intend to skimp on the “patients’” food and drink.

Gu Zhan concluded that this place wasn’t short on money.

He served himself some boiled vegetables, found a corner, and prepared to eat.

After a while, Zhao Xiaoyue came over with her tray and sat across from him.

Due to some experiences in reality, Gu Zhan found it hard to refuse someone, even if he didn’t like them.

As she took her seat, he simply watched without immediately getting up to leave.

This reaction gave Zhao Xiaoyue courage. She took a deep breath and said to Gu Zhan, “Let’s exchange some information. Your path and ours are separate, so our clues should be quite different.”

Zhao Xiaoyue was well aware that some of her actions with Wen Ge had completely soured Gu Zhan’s impression of her. If she wanted to communicate with him, she needed to show sincerity first.

She took the initiative, saying, “We’ve been searching for clues in the inpatient building for the past two days. Although this place seems calm, there are many cameras, all pinhole ones… This cafeteria we’re in should have them too.”

Gu Zhan replied, “I already know that.”

“……” Zhao Xiaoyue was very surprised. Wen Ge had only locked him up yesterday, and he had just been released for a short time—how could he know this?

This piece of information didn’t pique his interest; she had to continue, “I also know that there’s a powerful director in this hospital, with authority far above the head nurse…”

Gu Zhan asked, “Have you ever seen him?”

“……” Zhao Xiaoyue’s face showed embarrassment: “No…”

Gu Zhan remained silent, just looking at her, but his meaning was clear—if you’ve never even seen him, how can you present him as intel? Are you trying to pull off a scam?

Zhao Xiaoyue admitted that their gains over the past two days were minimal. There was nothing they could do! Their action privileges here were too low. They couldn’t leave the inpatient department unless it was mealtime, and many of the rooms were locked tight, impossible to open… Even if someone used an item, it didn’t work; it seemed the game’s narrative set these doors to be closed to them.

Looking at Gu Zhan’s indifferent expression, Zhao Xiaoyue felt a little frustrated: “What about you? You’re just asking me. Have you found a lot of clues?”

She couldn’t believe that Gu Zhan, who had spent most of his time locked in the punishment room, could have found anything substantial.

Gu Zhan didn’t fall for her provocation and simply stated, “I didn’t find anything, but at least I already know all that you’ve mentioned.”

Zhao Xiaoyue: “……”

This conversation was going nowhere!

It was obvious that Gu Zhan had the most information, and Wen Ge looked utterly unreliable… But since the other party was unwilling to engage with her, she started regretting not being more helpful when he first entered the game!

What to do… She wanted to clear this dungeon; she didn’t want to die.

Zhao Xiaoyue stared at her plate, tears almost brimming.

Across from her, Gu Zhan finished his lunch, packed up his things, and stood up. Suddenly, he remembered something and said to Zhao Xiaoyue, “There’s nothing particularly dangerous here; you won’t die as long as you’re not afraid.”

“Ah?” Zhao Xiaoyue looked up in confusion, not understanding what this statement meant.

Not being afraid… means not dying?

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post

Jiang Yan was awakened by the mechanical broadcast of the main system. In the desolate mountain forest blanketed by thick snow, a mechanical voice echoed: [Dungeon: "Sheep's Forest," Progress: 20%] [Player: Li Xue, Escape Progress: 50%] The distant sky was a heavy gray, surrounded by gnarled black branches resembling the haunting spirits of a graveyard. Amid the howling wind, there seemed to be the growls of wild beasts. At this moment, Jiang Yan was asleep in the loft of a small wooden cabin deep in the forest, covered with a duck down comforter and lying on a soft velvet blanket. The fireplace in the room was burning brightly, filling the air with the sweet scent of roasted chestnuts, while the raging wind and snow outside were of no concern to him. "Why has the dungeon progress still only been 20% after five days? How many are left alive now?" Jiang Yan nestled deeper into the comforter, lazily asking. "Oh, Ancestor, you’re awake?" the syst

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door

On the weekend, it was time for the second-year students of the School of Science to move dormitories. The hallway on the third floor of Building Seven was bustling with noise, filled with voices, footsteps, and the clattering of suitcase wheels rolling over the floor, creating a chaotic and irritating atmosphere. Lu Yuxing’s daily necessities were mostly simple, so he didn’t have many belongings. Aside from his bed, he managed to pack everything into a few large boxes. He finished organizing his things earlier than the other two and pushed his suitcase to Dorm 323 ahead of time. Dorm 323 had previously been occupied by fourth-year students. After the seniors graduated in July, it remained empty, which saved Lu Yuxing and his friends a lot of hassle when changing dorms. The dorm was quite empty; apart from some dust on the desk and bed, it was overall clean. The large tiled floor was very accommodating for those with obsessive-compulsive tendencies, perfectly fitting the preferences

Shang Jue pushed Lu Yuxing down from his chest. Lu Yuxing wrapped his arms around his waist, keeping him in place. “I’ll be careful this time,” he said, lowering his head again to kiss him gently for a long time. After what felt like an eternity, they parted. Shang Jue noticed Lu Yuxing's flushed face and damp lips up close, feeling a sudden awkwardness. He cleared his throat. Kissing a dog with memories feels different. Lu Yuxing warmly held him, a smile curling at the corners of his lips. Shang Jue couldn’t help but doubt whether the person in front of him was the same as half an hour ago. He raised his hands, pinching Lu Yuxing’s cheeks and pulling at them. Remembering that he was still carrying a pot on his back, he started to unhappily hold him accountable. “You said I was fishing for you. What exactly did I do to fish you?” Lu Yuxing hadn’t expected Shang Jue to bring this up at that moment. As Shang Jue tugged at his face, Lu Yuxing tilted his head but didn’t break
