Chapter 82: Song of the Deep (9)

Ye Nianchu suddenly woke up and sat up in bed. After freshening up, she opened the balcony door. She listened carefully and realized it was a broadcast looking for someone.

Another person was missing.

This time, it was two tourists.

Qin Mubai was in the living room, his dark hair falling casually. When he saw Ye Nianchu, a gentle smile appeared on his handsome face.

After a quick breakfast, they left the house, planning to go to a busy place to hear any news.

As soon as they got out of the elevator, they saw the family members of the missing tourists gathered around the cruise ship staff, demanding answers. A crowd of people stood around, watching.

“A whole morning has passed, and there are no results. We can’t even get the surveillance footage. If anything happens to my son, I’ll take action against your company!” one of the family members shouted.

The cruise ship staff apologized repeatedly, but the upset family members were not satisfied. “We paid so much for the tickets just to hear you apologize? I demand a full search of the ship!”

“I completely understand your frustration. We have sent people to search, but the two tourists are adults, and the ship is very large. They might have missed the broadcast in some part of the ship,” the staff member said.

Sweat appeared on the forehead of the person giving the explanation, and he seemed unsure of his words.

The public areas had been thoroughly searched, and announcements had been made constantly, but no sign of the missing tourists was found. It was as if they had disappeared into thin air, just like the crew members who vanished the night before, without a trace.

“What do you understand? It’s been hours, and it happened to you! A perfectly normal person goes to sleep and then disappears. You don’t even have an explanation. How are you ensuring the safety of the tourists? Where is the captain?” the angry family member demanded.

The argument continued, and the staff tried to calm everyone, promising to increase the search efforts, but many questions remained unanswered.

Ye Nianchu thought that the ship’s communication equipment might be out of order, leaving them isolated in the vast sea with no way to send distress signals.

The tourists, however, were unaware of this problem.

(Inside the Medical Office)

The girl in uniform sat across from the doctor, looking shocked.

“Your temperature is normal; you don’t have a fever or cold. Your poor mental state might be due to lack of rest,” the doctor said.

“I,” the girl said, covering her ears and looking pale, “have been hearing someone singing in my ears for the past two days. When I asked people around me, they said they didn’t hear anything.”

“Singing?” the doctor asked.

“Yes, but it’s very faint and not clear,” the girl said, her gaze becoming strange—cold and judgmental.

“There are many reasons for hallucinations. We’ll need to wait until we dock and go to a hospital for a proper examination. For now, you should rest for a few days. I’ll give you a sick leave note,” the doctor said.

The girl nodded slowly, her movements stiff.

(Outside on the Porch)

Zhong Liang watched the girl who had brushed past him as she left the medical office, scratching his head in confusion.

Her eyes seemed to glow green.

When she looked at him, her gaze was strange—cold, and full of scrutiny.

Zhong Liang stood still, shivering with realization.

Due to the wireless disconnection on board, tourists had been complaining since morning.

The situation on the cruise ship was chaotic, leaving little room to address other concerns.

The problems with the ship’s equipment were much more serious than just the lack of wireless connectivity.

The captain and crew were still trying to solve the issues.

Thinking about the news he had uncovered with great difficulty, Zhong Liang felt a wave of panic.

Just as he turned around and quickened his pace, the girl from the corner stumbled and abruptly turned her head around.

Her face was expressionless, but her eyes were bloodthirsty and cold.

Translation Update! 🍙 Translation Update! 🍙 ✨ Quick note: English isn't my first language, so please understand there might be some typos or awkward phrasing - I'm doing my best! ✨ Hey everyone, just a quick update: As of today, April 28, 2025 , I want to give you all a heads-up about a few small issues you might come across in the story, specifically with some of the prop names. It's not exactly a typo issue—it's more about changes I've made over time. For instance, I originally used the term 'data concealment number' but later changed it to 'number concealment data.' Since these are just prop names in the story, it's not a major issue for the plot, but I totally get that some of you might find it a little annoying if you're really particular about details. ...

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door ...

The broadcast from the main system echoed throughout the instance. In the pitch-black snowy night, accompanied by the eerie howling wind of the ebony forest, Jiang Yan felt utterly disoriented. The "Hunter" in front of him couldn’t hear the main system’s intrusive voice and was still waiting for his "little sheep" to kiss him. However, Jiang Yan simply reached out, gently touched the demon-like ram horns of the "Hunter," and then unhesitatingly pulled the blanket over his head. Hunter: "...So disobedient." Soon after, a kiss landed softly on the top of Jiang Yan's head. A pair of long, broad hands rested on his waist as the "Hunter" drifted into slumber. Meanwhile, the game forum’s players erupted into an explosive celebration: [I’m dying of laughter! What kind of penalty is this?? It’s my first time hearing such a ridiculous deduction reason!] [“Please immediately kiss the BOSS.” What the heck? Hahaha...] [This will go down...

Jiang Yan ignored 663, curling up under the blanket like a quail. The "Hunter" holding him would occasionally rub his head, seemingly captivated by the texture. Jiang Yan obediently played the role of a "pet." Based on his years of watching horror movies and reading scary stories, he knew that being "clever" or "kind-hearted" in such games only led to quicker deaths. "You still have five days," the Hunter said, savoring the softness and compliance of the person in his arms. His pale, pupil-less eyes glinted with pleasure. Although a sheep's head couldn't show human expressions, it was clear he was smiling. Hearing this, the four people huddled in the cage shivered in unison. Only Wang Yu sat blankly by the edge, tears streaming as he gazed at his lover. The "Cops and Robbers" Game The "Hunter" acted as the cop, giving the players (the "robbers") ten days to escape the forest. If they found t...

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post...
