"Ni–a---"

Once again, a long, mournful call echoed with no response, and the street suddenly fell silent.

Jiang Yan listened to the sounds from outside, loosening his grip on Yu Xiu’s chest, and softly asked, "Did it leave?"

Yu Xiu didn’t answer his question, and for a moment, the world seemed as if it had died in complete silence.

Jiang Yan waited for a while but still heard no sound. Just as he let out a sigh of relief, the quiet street suddenly erupted into a cacophony of sorrowful cries:

"Ni–a! Ni–a---!"

The voices of men, women, the old, and the young mixed together in a clamorous, market-like noise, as if the entire town had poured out onto the street, noisy and disturbing.

"Sister---!"

The sound was so piercing it could break through every white wall of a mirror, filled with grief so intense it seemed nearly tragic. The people outside seemed to be holding a mournful market of their own.

Jiang Yan, who was about to kick the body off of him, was startled by the sudden noise and instinctively shrank into Yu Xiu's embrace.

The person holding him chuckled softly, and the chest that had no breath or heartbeat trembled slightly.

"What's so funny?" Jiang Yan couldn’t help but pinch his chest.

He was surrounded by the soft bed curtains, and the unique, eerie cold scent of Yu Xiu's decaying body wrapped around him. His somewhat drowsy mind began to fully wake up.

"Yu Xiu" covered his wife’s body with his own, tenderly rubbing his earlobe, and said, “Yan Yan is afraid of ghosts.”

Jiang Yan was about to say “I’m not afraid,” but as his gaze met the dead, golden-tattooed face of the man above him, the words got caught in his throat.

He almost forgot that the person pressing him down wasn’t Yu Xiu. Instead, it was a system NPC created by the main system, one that could tear him apart at any moment.

Right now, he was playing the role of the freshly wed young wife of this body. He should be afraid of ghosts.

Slightly, Jiang Yan snuggled closer to Yu Xiu, pressing his face against his cold, decaying body. He looked as docile as a little lamb, his voice hoarse and soft: "I am scared"

[Ah! Almost forgot Yan Yan had this side to him!]

[Back to the sheep days…]

[Ah!! I really like this side of Yan Yan! So cute! Want to kiss him!]

Of course, he couldn’t resist. At that moment, he desperately wanted to swallow Jiang Yan whole. In fact, he made his move. But as he lowered his head, he only left a soft kiss on Jiang Yan’s forehead.

His ghostly green eyes darkened slightly, and a faint smile tugged at his lips as he sighed quietly.

He still couldn’t bring himself to.

Jiang Yan was no stranger to Yu Xiu’s kiss. They had once spent every day together, their every breath and touch etched into their bones. Therefore, the once familiar and warm sensation now felt ice-cold, and Jiang Yan’s heart skipped a beat.

He once again realized this person was not Yu Xiu.

The street noise grew louder, and the sorrowful calls overlapped with each other. Inside, everything was silent, save for the quiet and warm room, where the delicate new bride nestled obediently in her husband’s arms, breathing lightly.

"Don’t be afraid," Yu Xiu said, holding his waist tightly and pressing his body fully on top of him. "I’m here."

Tenderly, he shielded the timid Jiang Yan beneath him, kissing his smooth forehead with gentle affection.

Jiang Yan, enduring the kiss, instinctively wrapped his arms around his waist, just like he did every night in the past, but...

Jiang Yan furrowed his brow slightly, unsure whether it was because the body was starting to rot, but he felt the person above him was slightly different from Yu Xiu. It felt strange.

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something and asked, “Where’s your younger brother?”

Yu Xiu’s kiss halted immediately, and the expression on his face stiffened.

His eyes turned dangerous, but his voice remained gentle: “Yan Yan… are you very concerned about his whereabouts?”

Jiang Yan obediently pressed his face against his chest and replied, “I remember he came back with us. Why haven’t I seen him?”

The image of his brother still seemed alive in Jiang Yan’s mind. He thought to himself.

The room fell into a heavy silence again, while the ruckus outside continued, making the world feel both loud and eerily quiet at the same time.

Jiang Yan seemed to sense a dangerous aura emanating from the person above him. Without thinking, he shifted his body, trying to move aside and free himself from the body’s grip.

However, the moment he moved, his intentions were noticed.

The next second, his hands were restrained above his head by a cold, decaying hand, and his chin was lifted, forcing him to meet the chilling, ghostly eyes staring down at him.

Yu Xiu looked down at him, his dark green robe partially opened, exposing his broad chest. Half of his skin was still smooth, but the other half had decayed, revealing white ribs. In the middle of those ribs, where the heart should have been, a blooming ghostly flower entwined around his bones.

Jiang Yan froze for a moment, finally realizing where the eerie fragrance was coming from.

In that brief moment of distraction, the hand gripping his chin tightened, forcing his mouth open. Yu Xiu’s fingers slipped inside.

“Mmm…”

The long fingers pressed against the base of Jiang Yan’s tongue, making him flinch uncomfortably. He tried to break free, but his hands were restrained, and as he instinctively attempted to use his legs to push the body off of him, he was pinned down even more.

Jiang Yan couldn’t move, and the fingers inside his mouth started to move restlessly, making a sticky sound.

"Bastard..." Jiang Yan struggled futilely, his gaze fixed on Yu Xiu’s decayed chest, the rose blooming from within it. At that moment, he desperately wished he could use the flower to destroy this person!

Just as he thought that, he bit down hard on the fingers in his mouth. But Yu Xiu had anticipated his move, and as Jiang Yan bit, he quickly withdrew his hand.

Jiang Yan’s breathing became erratic. He looked up at the person pressing him down and said, “You’re bullying me.”

The obedient bride was pressed beneath her husband, her voice tinged with grievance.

Yu Xiu gazed down at his bride, his finger wet from his own touch as he calmly said, “I just wanted to see what your tongue looked like, how can you say something so unflattering to me?”

“What did I say?” Jiang Yan didn’t understand.

Now Yu Xiu spoke with a hint of grievance in his tone: “Yan Yan is my wife. Naturally, Yan Yan should sleep with me at night. Why are you asking about my younger brother? Where did he go?”

“Does Yan Yan like him more than me?”

“Does Yan Yan think I’ve already died, and he’s the one still alive?”

“Also, I’m cold and indifferent when holding you, unlike my brother who’s warm.”

Yu Xiu continued, his tone growing more and more hurt. He released Jiang Yan’s chin and pounced on him, causing his ribs to press painfully against Jiang Yan’s body.

He buried his face in Jiang Yan’s neck and mumbled, “But I crawled back from hell for Yan Yan.”

His tone was filled with resentment, like a jealous husband.

Jiang Yan was stunned by his questions. Since entering this game, he had never really separated the decayed body from the living Yu Xiu. After all, the only difference was one was dead, and one was alive, and they even shared the same name.

This made him overlook the fact that, according to the game’s rules, they were two different individuals.

But how could they have shared a bridal chamber yesterday, and today start questioning each other’s relationship?

Yu Xiu, still not behaving, continued to kiss Jiang Yan’s neck while asking in a pained voice, “Yan Yan thinks my younger brother is better?”

“Didn’t my brother kiss you yesterday? Did you like his kiss more, or mine?”

One kiss after another covered Jiang Yan’s neck, leaving behind a trail of ambiguous marks.

Jiang Yan, dizzy from the kisses, didn’t know how to respond or what to say, only passively enduring the affection.

Outside, the cries of the town reached their peak, growing more and more distorted until they turned into eerie laughter.

The laughter grew louder and more chaotic, and in the silent night, it felt disturbingly unsettling:

“Ni–a! Ni–a---!”

The streets were filled with red-faced, sorrowful ghosts, weaving through every alley in the town, their laughter echoing into the sky.

Inside, the newlywed couple, wrapped in the blankets, were filled with passion. Just as Yu Xiu was about to tear open his bride’s collar and bite down, there was a knock at the door.

“Who is it?” Yu Xiu impatiently looked back, his eyes filled with desire and frustration.

[Who is it? Don’t they know the timing?]

[Get out of here! Even if it’s the boss, they better leave!]

[Right when things were getting good! Can’t they check the time?]

[We just had our wedding night too! I just wanted to taste Yan Yan’s sweet lips. Is that too much to ask?]

The conversation on the game’s forum quickly shifted focus.

Meanwhile, the players and NPCs in the game continued to grind through the story.

Jiang Yan quickly gathered his torn clothes, breathing heavily and blushing.

“This is a workplace injury,” he muttered helplessly to the personal system that had been playing dead.

The system quickly responded, trying to console him, “It’s fine! Just perform well in this dungeon. Earn enough points to unlock more dungeons, and next time you can choose your own!”

Choosing a dungeon? Jiang Yan was tempted, and for a moment, besides Yu Xiu, he had another reason to earn points.

At that moment, the voice of the town mayor, sounding like decayed wood, came from outside: “It’s me, Xiao Xiu.”

“What’s the matter?” Yu Xiu, with his arms resting on Jiang Yan’s sides, gently massaged his soft earlobe to calm his frustration.

The mayor sounded anxious, “It’s too noisy today! You need to bring your wife out. We need to go to the temple for safety.”

“The ghosts are starting to bang on the doors.”

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post

Jiang Yan was awakened by the mechanical broadcast of the main system. In the desolate mountain forest blanketed by thick snow, a mechanical voice echoed: [Dungeon: "Sheep's Forest," Progress: 20%] [Player: Li Xue, Escape Progress: 50%] The distant sky was a heavy gray, surrounded by gnarled black branches resembling the haunting spirits of a graveyard. Amid the howling wind, there seemed to be the growls of wild beasts. At this moment, Jiang Yan was asleep in the loft of a small wooden cabin deep in the forest, covered with a duck down comforter and lying on a soft velvet blanket. The fireplace in the room was burning brightly, filling the air with the sweet scent of roasted chestnuts, while the raging wind and snow outside were of no concern to him. "Why has the dungeon progress still only been 20% after five days? How many are left alive now?" Jiang Yan nestled deeper into the comforter, lazily asking. "Oh, Ancestor, you’re awake?" the syst

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door

On the weekend, it was time for the second-year students of the School of Science to move dormitories. The hallway on the third floor of Building Seven was bustling with noise, filled with voices, footsteps, and the clattering of suitcase wheels rolling over the floor, creating a chaotic and irritating atmosphere. Lu Yuxing’s daily necessities were mostly simple, so he didn’t have many belongings. Aside from his bed, he managed to pack everything into a few large boxes. He finished organizing his things earlier than the other two and pushed his suitcase to Dorm 323 ahead of time. Dorm 323 had previously been occupied by fourth-year students. After the seniors graduated in July, it remained empty, which saved Lu Yuxing and his friends a lot of hassle when changing dorms. The dorm was quite empty; apart from some dust on the desk and bed, it was overall clean. The large tiled floor was very accommodating for those with obsessive-compulsive tendencies, perfectly fitting the preferences

Shang Jue pushed Lu Yuxing down from his chest. Lu Yuxing wrapped his arms around his waist, keeping him in place. “I’ll be careful this time,” he said, lowering his head again to kiss him gently for a long time. After what felt like an eternity, they parted. Shang Jue noticed Lu Yuxing's flushed face and damp lips up close, feeling a sudden awkwardness. He cleared his throat. Kissing a dog with memories feels different. Lu Yuxing warmly held him, a smile curling at the corners of his lips. Shang Jue couldn’t help but doubt whether the person in front of him was the same as half an hour ago. He raised his hands, pinching Lu Yuxing’s cheeks and pulling at them. Remembering that he was still carrying a pot on his back, he started to unhappily hold him accountable. “You said I was fishing for you. What exactly did I do to fish you?” Lu Yuxing hadn’t expected Shang Jue to bring this up at that moment. As Shang Jue tugged at his face, Lu Yuxing tilted his head but didn’t break
