Bang—

Mother Lin pushed the front door open with force.

After feeling increasingly anxious on the way home, she finally sighed in relief when she returned to her familiar home, allowing her tense nerves to relax.

Back in her own space, Mother Lin felt a sense of comfort emanating from every pore of her body.

After changing out of her dusty shoes into her soft, cozy slippers, Mother Lin looked up to see the living room in complete disarray.

Her heart immediately tightened.

What happened here? Was the house robbed?!

Thinking of the possible huge financial loss, Mother Lin felt a pang of pain in her heart.

She strode into the living room, muttering curses under her breath.

“Which blind little thief has come to steal from my family?! You heartless wretch, may God punish you tonight and leave you to die a miserable death! Those filthy thieves really…”

Mother Lin’s sharp and piercing voice reverberated through the space, effectively waking up the spherical creature slumped on the sofa.

“…Mom, what are you cursing about?”

After being intimidated by Xiao Si in the afternoon, Lin Yao had sat on the sofa, his mind blank and his expression dazed.

He was spoiled and unruly, having been raised by Mother Lin and Lin Father without any restraint, with an inherent maliciousness. But this time, he unfortunately encountered someone tougher.

After failing to show off, Lin Yao was restless and sat there for a while before, in a pitiful display of weakness, he began to cry.

After exhausting himself from crying, he curled up on the sofa and fell asleep until the evening.

Woken by Mother Lin's loud voice, Lin Yao felt overwhelmed with irritation.

He looked at Mother Lin’s dowdy appearance, and a surge of unnameable anger rose from his heart.

Why? Why were his parents so useless? If they could work a little harder to create a better living environment for him, he wouldn’t have ended up in this position!

The more he thought, the greater his resentment grew. In the end, he looked at Mother Lin with eyes filled with a hint of hatred.

Seeing her precious son, Mother Lin instinctively showed a warm smile, her tone softening considerably.

“Yao Yao? Why are you back so early today? Are you hungry? There’s still beef in the fridge; how about I make you potato beef tonight?”

In the grand scheme of things, the son is the most important!

After a long day of hard work, Mother Lin suddenly felt energized in this moment, regaining the strength to strive again.

“Yao Yao, why are you sleeping on the sofa when you got home? Were you too tired studying at school? Mommy tells you that no matter how tired you are, you have to go back to your room—”

“Can you just shut up?!”

Awakening from sleep, the memories he had tried to forget rushed back, bringing with them the frustrations he had buried deep inside.

Thinking of the seemingly unattainable sum of five hundred thousand, coupled with Mother Lin's incessant chatter, Lin Yao’s anger erupted.

As usual, Lin Yao directed all his irritation, fear, and fury onto Mother Lin.

“Every day it’s just the same annoying chatter! Can you just stop asking stupid questions? If you have nothing to say, can’t you just be quiet?!

“Look at other mothers; they’re so elegant and graceful. Why do you always act like a shrew?! If you were richer, would I have to suffer this humiliation?!”

Facing Lin Yao's frenzied roar, Lin's mother was stunned, feeling as if she had fallen into an ice cave on a hot summer day, chilled to the bone and wanting to shiver.

The son she had cherished since childhood—was this how he truly felt about her?

This wasn’t the first time she had been scolded like this. In this family, even though her voice was the loudest, she was merely a punching bag; whenever Lin Father was unhappy, he would scold her, and when Lin Yao was upset, he would also take it out on her.

In the past, Lin’s mother had always silently endured it. But this time, for some reason, she didn’t want to endure any longer.

“If you hate me so much, then get out! Go find someone else to be your mother!”

Lin Mother’s high-pitched, shrill voice was so sharp it felt like it would pierce eardrums. Her face contorted in anger, looking exceptionally menacing.

Lin Yao was frightened by this sight of his mother.

He was the type to bully the weak and fear the strong; now, facing Lin Mother’s fierce outburst, he stood frozen, too intimidated to speak.

A dead silence enveloped the room, and the atmosphere became stagnant.

Just then, a piercing ringtone broke the suffocating silence.

Glaring fiercely at Lin Yao, Lin Mother took out her cheap phone, answering the call while heading to the kitchen with a basket of vegetables.

“Hello, who is this?”

After being scolded by Lin Mother, Lin Yao climbed up from the sofa, feeling downcast as he prepared to head to his room.

But at that moment, he heard a voice from Lin Mother’s phone that he was all too familiar with—a voice he never wanted to hear again.

“Hello, Ms. Sun. Your son borrowed five hundred thousand from our company, and tomorrow is the final deadline for repayment. Please…”

Hearing the voice of Xiao Si come from Lin Mother’s phone, Lin Yao felt his heart sink.

He stood there, dazed, waiting for his final judgment.

In a wave of despair, Xiao Si’s voice filled with false enthusiasm suddenly stopped.

Lin Mother impatiently hung up the phone while cursing as she continued to the kitchen.

“In this day and age, the tricks of scammers are getting more pathetic. What kind of nonsense is this…”

Seeing this, the blood that had run cold in Lin Yao slowly began to warm again. His face twitched a couple of times, as if he wanted to smile, but ultimately, he couldn’t manage it.

With a half-smile, half-cry expression, Lin Yao continued toward his room.

At the company

Xiao Si raised an eyebrow, looking at the two calls—one rejected and one that never went through because the other party was shut off—his lips curving slightly into a smirk.

Seeing this, the group of tattooed men surrounding him couldn’t help but shiver in unison.

After exchanging glances, one of the tattooed men hesitantly asked, “Boss, are we still making threatening calls tomorrow?”

“What kind of talk is that? Those aren’t threatening calls; we’re making outreach calls with kindness and care!”

With a glare, Xiao Si watched as the tattooed men shrank back like a group of plump quails, and he sighed in frustration before giving his instructions.

“Tomorrow, once it’s noon, I’ll call the police. At that time, you’ll take the list I give you and call each person. Remember, your attitude must be good. Don’t be fierce; they haven’t signed our money, so you’re not allowed to be aggressive, got it?”

“Got it!”

The group of tattooed men responded in unison, their voices loud enough to echo through the air.

“...When you call tomorrow, not only do you need to pay attention to your tone, but also your volume.”

Letting out a weary sigh, a hint of excitement crept into Xiao Si’s eyes.

“Tomorrow, we’ll go to the police station to get help from the police uncles.”

Seeing the look on Xiao Si’s face, combined with the content of his words, the surrounding muscular men couldn’t help but shiver again, collectively retreating a half-step.

They’d better avoid the police station. After all, they were just making phone calls; they didn’t know anything and were too scared to say anything. Let the boss handle the frightening stuff like getting involved with the police…

While Lin Yao’s family was having a tasteless, lifeless dinner, Lin Wan was living quite a different life.

After finishing his evening class, Lin Wan happily closed his old Nokia phone.

He had just spoken to Boss Wang, who informed him that all the subject teachers had been arranged. When he came over tomorrow morning, he could start tutoring immediately.

Putting the old Nokia back in his pocket, Lin Wan joyfully entered his space from his hotel room.

Once he caught up on all the knowledge he missed, he would become a top student…

Lin Wan was stunned.

He saw his nemesis lounging completely naked in a small wooden tub, comfortably soaking in a bath.

His handsome face was flushed from the steam, and his striking features appeared exceptionally captivating in the hazy steam. His eyes, deep and cold like a serene pool, sparkled brightly the moment they met Lin Wan's gaze.

Seeing his rival looking so cute and sweet, Lin Wan’s heart raced uncontrollably, nearly breaking the scale of charm.

Such a unique beauty—he thought, dizzy from the handsome sight.

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post

Jiang Yan was awakened by the mechanical broadcast of the main system. In the desolate mountain forest blanketed by thick snow, a mechanical voice echoed: [Dungeon: "Sheep's Forest," Progress: 20%] [Player: Li Xue, Escape Progress: 50%] The distant sky was a heavy gray, surrounded by gnarled black branches resembling the haunting spirits of a graveyard. Amid the howling wind, there seemed to be the growls of wild beasts. At this moment, Jiang Yan was asleep in the loft of a small wooden cabin deep in the forest, covered with a duck down comforter and lying on a soft velvet blanket. The fireplace in the room was burning brightly, filling the air with the sweet scent of roasted chestnuts, while the raging wind and snow outside were of no concern to him. "Why has the dungeon progress still only been 20% after five days? How many are left alive now?" Jiang Yan nestled deeper into the comforter, lazily asking. "Oh, Ancestor, you’re awake?" the syst

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door

On the weekend, it was time for the second-year students of the School of Science to move dormitories. The hallway on the third floor of Building Seven was bustling with noise, filled with voices, footsteps, and the clattering of suitcase wheels rolling over the floor, creating a chaotic and irritating atmosphere. Lu Yuxing’s daily necessities were mostly simple, so he didn’t have many belongings. Aside from his bed, he managed to pack everything into a few large boxes. He finished organizing his things earlier than the other two and pushed his suitcase to Dorm 323 ahead of time. Dorm 323 had previously been occupied by fourth-year students. After the seniors graduated in July, it remained empty, which saved Lu Yuxing and his friends a lot of hassle when changing dorms. The dorm was quite empty; apart from some dust on the desk and bed, it was overall clean. The large tiled floor was very accommodating for those with obsessive-compulsive tendencies, perfectly fitting the preferences

Shang Jue pushed Lu Yuxing down from his chest. Lu Yuxing wrapped his arms around his waist, keeping him in place. “I’ll be careful this time,” he said, lowering his head again to kiss him gently for a long time. After what felt like an eternity, they parted. Shang Jue noticed Lu Yuxing's flushed face and damp lips up close, feeling a sudden awkwardness. He cleared his throat. Kissing a dog with memories feels different. Lu Yuxing warmly held him, a smile curling at the corners of his lips. Shang Jue couldn’t help but doubt whether the person in front of him was the same as half an hour ago. He raised his hands, pinching Lu Yuxing’s cheeks and pulling at them. Remembering that he was still carrying a pot on his back, he started to unhappily hold him accountable. “You said I was fishing for you. What exactly did I do to fish you?” Lu Yuxing hadn’t expected Shang Jue to bring this up at that moment. As Shang Jue tugged at his face, Lu Yuxing tilted his head but didn’t break
