Chapter 76: Lost Song of the Deep (3)
"Uh-huh." Qin Mubai nodded, maintaining his calm demeanor. "I didn’t expect to see my sister here."
"This arrangement seems like quite a burden for you," Ye Nianchu said, looking around.
"Five times the salary. The Goni sets sail the day after tomorrow. Accompany me on the trip."
Her offer made the people around them pause in surprise. It was clear from their appearance that these two were not really siblings, though they were strikingly good-looking.
A young man nearby, who had just been hired for work on the Goni, stared at them, his curiosity piqued. He approached Qin Mubai, whispering eagerly, "Does your sister need more help? What about me?"
He had been dragged into the game and was informed that failing to board the Goni meant certain doom. This wasn’t just a survival game; it felt like a game of chance.
The young man, who enjoyed his job despite the low pay, hoped this opportunity might change his luck.
Qin Mubai looked at the boy, his expression remaining neutral but his smile cold.
Unperturbed, the boy continued, "The doctor said my stomach is bad. Can you take me with you?"
Qin Mubai’s eyes, devoid of warmth, met his, silently signaling him to keep his distance. The boy’s enthusiasm faltered as a chill crept over him.
Watching the striking siblings leave the harbor, the boy was left in a daze. This game was more intimidating than he had expected.
---
Closing the car door, Ye Nianchu leaned back and smiled. "Tell me, what are you doing here?"
Given Qin Mubai’s usual efficiency, his presence here suggested that his activities were related to the game or the goods he had just moved.
However, Ye Nianchu’s guess was off this time.
"Looking for the suitcase. Last time, I noticed my sister seemed to want it," Qin Mubai said with a gentle smile, his dark eyes mesmerizing.
"I thought if I saw you again, you wouldn’t have to envy anyone else."
Ye Nianchu’s gaze softened, warmed by his unexpected thoughtfulness.
"I don’t need to look for it specifically," she said, reaching up to pat his head. "What I envy is luck. Without a Quarter Chest, it’s just straightforward kryptonite. It’s not a big deal."
Now that she had found her companion, she was eager to head home on the yacht. Ye Nianchu made a quick call.
Qin Mubai, standing beside her, listened silently and smiled.
---
"What kind of yacht are you interested in? We have a range here," the salesman said eagerly.
"Safe," Ye Nianchu replied.
"Rest assured, our products are top-notch with guaranteed safety!" The salesman assured her. "This small yacht, priced at 2.88 million dollars, has a high-end configuration."
"This one," Ye Nianchu said, pulling out her card before the salesman could finish. "Can it be delivered tomorrow?"
Given the nature of survival games, safety was paramount. The salesman was taken aback by her decisive choice. He hadn't even started his detailed pitch yet.
As he took her card, the teenager from earlier stepped forward, also holding a black card.
