Chapter 64

Chapter 64: The Fading City (29)

She had seen what Qin Mubai had done, and even though he seemed to be in good spirits, she no longer dared to get close to him.

Just as the zombie was about to grab the girl, Chu Yao shot it and saved her.

"Thank you, thank you!" The girl trembled, backing away while thanking her repeatedly.

Chu Yao smiled, saying it was nothing, but a flicker of hidden contempt flashed in her eyes. Her gaze returned to Ye Nianchu. Seeing the difference in their strength, she silently made up her mind about something.

When the zombies in front fell, those behind rushed forward, an endless wave.

The number of zombies that had entered the hotel over the past few days, added to those already inside, was overwhelming and terrifying.

They were completely surrounded by zombies.

If they didn’t find a way to escape soon, once they ran out of supplies and ammunition, only a few top fighters would be able to hold on much longer.

Ye Nianchu and Qin Mubai, each covering their side, cut through the zombies like they were slicing vegetables. Their ruthless and efficient movements made it seem like they were handling the situation with ease, even in these chaotic conditions.

The two of them were almost at the intact door at the far end of the room.

He Junheng, with a grim expression, made his way toward Ye Nianchu. His gaze was as sharp as a blood-stained blade, and any zombie that lunged at him was beheaded before it even got close.

Ye Nianchu poured gasoline on the ground in front of He Junheng, then smiled and clapped her hands, pretending not to notice his darkened expression.

"Alliance Master," Chen Tianju said as he approached, "If we keep wasting time, it won’t be easy to get out of here."

The elevator doors had opened, and their men were shooting at the surrounding zombies, sending black blood splattering and piling up the bodies.

The evolved zombies were not only fast and agile but could also attack from the ceiling, making them hard to kill.

They didn’t have a second to waste.

"Brother Junheng, let's go," Chu Yao called from beside the elevator.

Ye Nianchu raised her gun, a cold smile curling at the corner of her mouth, and in the next moment, flames erupted.

The nearby zombies were instantly engulfed in fire, filling the air with the stench of burning flesh. They continued to advance toward the living but fell apart after a few more steps.

"Go!" He Junheng said, finally pulling his gaze away.

At his command, everyone began retreating toward the elevator as more evolved zombies rushed at them.

Chu Yao glanced at the girl next to her and lightly pushed her forward. The girl stumbled out of the elevator.

A dry, decayed hand grabbed her, followed by a terrified scream, and crimson blood splattered on the elevator door.

Chu Yao looked at the closing elevator door without any emotion.

If it weren’t for her, the girl would’ve been dead already; she wouldn’t have survived this long.

The elevator stopped on the fifth floor. As the doors opened, a zombie with only half a face suddenly rushed inside. The person at the front was caught off guard and was almost bitten by the zombie, but his teammates shot it in time.

The tension in his chest eased slightly, but as he looked out, his breath caught again.

Everywhere he looked, the floor was swarming with zombies.

Everyone’s faces turned pale. At that moment, a loud noise came from below, and the entire elevator shook.

An evolved zombie was climbing up the elevator shaft!

They couldn’t stay in the elevator any longer.

They had cleared this floor of zombies before heading down to the second basement level.

There were only two people capable of setting them up like this.

Especially someone like Qin Mubai, who acted as if he were the mastermind. If he could create evolved zombies, it wasn’t surprising that he could pull off something like this.

Chapter 2 (Peachland)

Chapter 2 "It's not impossible," the man across from her said, picking up some food with his chopsticks. "The system doesn’t reveal anything, and there's no response when we ask." Deng Lan agreed. She had been watching a drama at home, and then, in a blink, she was suddenly in this game. She couldn’t quit; it felt like a bad deal she had no choice but to accept. She had never seen a game this awful. Luckily, she was fortunate. When she met Ding Qi, another new player, Deng Lan was relieved to finally find a teammate. Being alone in the game was scarier than being pulled into it. "Why don’t we stay near the town exit and, on the sixth day, leave right away at dawn?" Deng Lan suggested. A hint of sarcasm flashed in Ding Qi’s eyes, but he didn’t show it. He seriously analyzed, "I think the game won’t let us pass that easily. The closer we get to the exit, the more dangerous it might be." Deng Lan didn’t know what Ding Qi was thinking, but hi

Max-Level Big Shot in the Survival Game

When Ye Nianchu is brought back into the game as a newbie, her bad luck seems to follow her everywhere. As she searches for clues, she heads straight for the BOSS. But stockpiling supplies turns into a crisis as she struggles on the way. "This game is too hard," she mutters. "Maybe all my luck was used up just meeting Qin Mubai." When they first meet, Ye Nianchu sees the boy with a paintbrush and thinks, "This NPC is really good-looking." Later, though, the boy holds a craft knife like a killer, but his smile is both kind and harmless. "Others are just trying to survive," she thinks. "He’s just playing a game. What kind of game is this? Can I report him for cheating?" In this game, players face a peaceful town that suddenly becomes a dangerous apocalypse, songs from the deep sea, a train that disappears mysteriously, a strange rainforest, and a weird sanatorium. "Danger keeps coming. Players either finish tasks to leave or die in t

Chapter 5 (Peachland)

Chapter 5 There were meals available at the B&B, but of course, they cost extra. After dinner, Ye Nianchu went up to the public terrace. From there, she could see the entire town at a glance. Smoke rose from the chimneys along the riverbank, and her gaze fell on the Huanzhen River. On the sixth day, if she couldn't leave this place, the mission would fail. The first day was almost over, and she didn’t have much time left to figure out how to pass the game. As the wind blew through the mountains, lifting her hair and the hem of her clothes, she suddenly noticed a figure. On the other side of the terrace, in front of an easel, sat a young man. He was tall and had a handsome, upright figure. His face was like it had been chiseled by a master sculptor. Pale skin, delicate features—he looked like a portrait come to life. Even from a distance, Ye Nianchu found it hard to look away. The boy held a paintbrush in his hand. His fingers were long and elegant. His clean, gentle appearance

Chapter 11 (Peachland)

Chapter 11 Some people, curious about the scene, came closer and quickly felt sick. The thought that the fish they had eaten for a midnight snack last night might have come from this river only made their fear worse. "I never want to eat fish again," someone said, shuddering. Nearby, several tourists who had stayed at the same B&B as the deceased, along with the B&B owner, stood together, looking very worried. The person they had shared a meal with just yesterday was now dead. "I saw Deng Lan last night; how could this happen?" Zhou Yun said, trembling. "Boss, did Deng Lan leave the B&B last night?" someone asked. The B&B was small, run by the owner herself, with no other staff except for a cleaning lady. The owner usually stayed at the front desk until locking up for the night before going to bed. The owner, looking pale and nervous, hesitated before answering, "I—I don't know. I didn’t pay much attention." The owner knew Den

Chapter 6 (Peachland)

Chapter 6 "As for the early clearance, those who got their qualification today might be S-ranked players," Wang Hai said. Wang Hai was still searching for someone, so he couldn’t give more details. Liang Zuo and Zhou Wen felt anxious but tried to hide it. They were beginning to think Wang Hai, who bragged about being a top player, seemed more like a con artist. "You newbies don’t know anything," Wang Hai said, glancing at them. "Since we're in the same game, let me give you a tip. For newbies like you, besides completing the quests, you should avoid top S-ranked players." "If you meet someone else, you might get lucky and clear the game with them. But if you run into one particular player, you’d better be careful." "Who?" Liang Zuo asked, leaning in. "We don’t know his name, but his last name is Qin. He’s an S-ranked big shot. It’s said that in one game round, almost everyone died, not because of the game, but because of him. T
