Chapter 28
He wasn’t dead yet, but he wouldn’t last long.
The evil spirits lurking in the shadows attacked Wang Hai. He screamed briefly, then went still.
Ye Nianchu checked her phone. There was still only one person left.
Less than 10 hours remained until dawn.
The system had said the way out of Daiyong Town would open on the sixth day.
If the evil spirits gathered seven players before then, even those who finished early might not survive until dawn on the sixth day.
This game was full of tricks.
A figure emerged from the darkness—it was the restaurant owner, brandishing a kitchen knife.
He had a creepy, unsettling smile and was staring straight at her.
Ye Nianchu felt a shiver of unease. The glass door wouldn’t stop him.
Her fears were confirmed. In an instant, the owner was at the door, knife raised.
They couldn’t stay here. The Shadow couldn’t come in, but the owner could.
The glass shattered loudly in the quiet. Ye Nianchu grabbed her stuff, opened the door, and shoved the coat rack in the way.
Outside wasn’t the familiar hallway. It was pitch black and smelled strongly of blood.
Ye Nianchu held a knife and used her phone for light.
The dried blood on the walls and floor indicated she was on the third floor.
The bodies of Zhou Wen and Fang Qing were still there, and the last room’s door was still closed.
Going inside wasn’t a good idea, but there was no way back. Black fog was spreading from the stairs.
Then she heard a sudden noise, like a lot of people talking, but she couldn’t make out the words.
“One, two, three.” They were counting!
Six figures appeared, including Deng Lan, Fang Qing, and Wang Hai, who had just died right in front of her!
Their mouths were wide open like black holes, pointing at Ye Nianchu. “You’re the seventh.”
A chill ran from her feet to her head.
Ye Nianchu held the knife in front of her. “This is your Grandpa’s yes,” she said defiantly.
She refused to join them.
As they closed in, Ye Nianchu ran to the last room. The door was unlocked. She rushed inside and took a moment to catch her breath.
There were too many evil spirits, and the items took too long to cool down for reuse.
Ye Nianchu looked around but didn’t see the coat rack. Instead, she saw two people lying on the bed.
They couldn’t be called humans anymore. Their faces were twisted and wrinkled, lying side by side under the covers, unmoving.
Suddenly, there was frantic banging on the door.
It was unsafe inside the room and outside. There were no good options.
Ye Nianchu was pondering her next move when she heard a soft whimper from the bathroom. She gripped her knife tightly and slowly walked over to open the door.
She was relieved to find Liang Zuo by the sink, alive.
He was very lucky. Scared, but still somehow survived.
Ye Nianchu saw the coat rack he was holding. Without thinking, she reached for it, but Liang Zuo clung to it tightly.
“Let go,” she demanded.
Liang Zuo looked at her with terror, crying and shaking his head. Desperate to survive, he held onto the coat rack even tighter.
