Liu Shuyao looked at Xiang Ran, who had fallen silent after speaking, frowning as if lost in thought.
“Is it really that hard to chase me?”
“It’s not that hard, it’s just…”
“How do you want me to chase you?”
Xiang Ran's question was so direct that even Liu Shuyao didn’t expect it.
“You!”
“Well, you have to figure that out yourself!”
The school beauty glared at Xiang Ran in annoyance.
She knew he was right; of course, she needed to come up with something. But planning a surprise was tough without a clue.
At least there was still time; they could think about it when they got back to school!
Right now, seeing Liu Shuyao so angry, he didn’t want to add to her frustration.
“How about we lie down a little longer?”
Xiang Ran thought it would be more comfortable.
Just as he was about to lay her flat on the bed, the school beauty, who had been holding back, suddenly leaned against him, practically nestling in his arms.
“No.”
Her voice was soft, almost like a gentle whine, though it still had a hint of nasal congestion.
“I just want to be held~”
She had spent the day feeling anxious, afraid of what would happen when her memories returned. Now that they had finally cleared things up, she wanted to enjoy a little more closeness.
This time, Xiang Ran didn’t let go of Liu Shuyao. He let her stay nestled against him. However, with one hand still receiving IV fluids, it felt awkward no matter how they adjusted their positions.
“Slide a bit to the left.”
“Then move that hand down a little!”
“Still not right…”
Liu Shuyao tried several positions, pouting in frustration.
“Hubby, can’t you just come up here and sleep with me?”
“……”
Time seemed to rewind to the past.
But it felt like Xiang Ran remembered something, leaning down to brush his cheek against Liu Shuyao’s ear, speaking mischievously.
“Didn’t you say you wanted me to chase you again?”
“Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”
Ah! This!
!!!
Liu Shuyao felt overwhelmed; was the boomerang coming back to hit her?
“I…”
“Is it wrong for me to have double standards?”
Liu Shuyao quickly turned her head and tugged on Xiang Ran’s shirt, pulling him toward the bed.
The school beauty's skin was as white as milk, flushed faintly pink from her fever. Their earlier struggle had nearly revealed everything under her loose clothing.
Xiang Ran caught a glimpse of the contours beneath, his throat going slightly dry.
The T-shirt’s neckline was quite large, almost exposing her collarbone.
He raised his hand to help Liu Shuyao adjust it, his fingers accidentally brushing against her soft skin. To his surprise, she reacted even more strongly, her whole body trembling slightly, her eyelashes fluttering.
The room was filled with a tense and enticing atmosphere, as if the air was charged, radiating an irresistible allure.
In the end, Xiang Ran didn’t give in to the school beauty’s wishes; he knew she could be unpredictable, and if they stayed together like this, who knew what might happen?
“Just focus on your IV and don’t move around!”
He firmly tucked her back into bed, rearranging the blankets to cover her snugly, leaving only her little head poking out.
When the IV fluid was nearly finished, he checked the time.
“Are you hungry?”
“Do you want some congee or something?”
Hearing this, Liu Shuyao realized she was a bit hungry. She tilted her head, thinking for a moment.
“Hmm~ I want to drink some century egg and lean pork congee~”
Xiang Ran nodded and went to buy it.
Before long, he returned with two bowls of congee and some side dishes.
When Liu Shuyao saw the cold lotus root slices, she thought they looked good. However, since her left hand couldn’t use chopsticks, she had to resort to a spoon. No matter how she tried, she couldn’t manage it, and after a while, hadn’t eaten a single bite.
“What should I do~”
“I really can’t get it!”
Pouting, the school beauty pushed the plate of lotus root slices toward her boyfriend, her almond-shaped eyes glaring at him.
Xiang Ran quickly set down his own bowl of congee, picked up some slices with his chopsticks, and tried to place them on her spoon.
But then, he saw Liu Shuyao lean forward, her pink lips brushing against the edge of the chopsticks as she slowly brought them to her mouth, biting the lotus root slices.
Xiang Ran was taken by surprise, his hand holding the chopsticks paused mid-air until he heard the crisp sound of her biting into the lotus root, snapping him back to reality.
After that first feeding, Liu Shuyao became lazy and wouldn’t even bother feeding herself congee.
She whimpered about where it hurt, coaxing Xiang Ran to feed her half a bowl.
“Do you have to get IV tomorrow?”
“Hmm~”
Liu Shuyao tilted her head and thought for a moment.
“There’s one more in the morning.”
“Then are you staying here tonight or going back to the dorm?”
“Either is fine~”
“Sleeping in the dorm would be more comfortable, but I might struggle to get up in the morning. Plus, it’ll be rush hour, so getting a taxi might be hard.”
Liu Shuyao frowned, biting her lip, clearly torn. The thought of waking up early made her sigh deeply.
“Let’s go back to the dorm. I’ll drive you over tomorrow morning; my dad’s car is still at school.”
“Eh?”
“Didn’t you go home last night?”
Xiang Ran shook his head. Last night, he had been a bundle of nerves, thinking he was facing a death sentence. He didn’t have the heart to go home, fearing that if Teacher Lin noticed anything amiss, he would have to explain for ages.
With someone to drive her, the problem was quickly resolved.
Soon, they packed up and headed back to school.
In the girls' dorm.
When Liu Shuyao walked in, she startled Zhao Ying and Li Meixun.
“Ah?”
“Why are you back?”
“Aren’t you getting IV again in the morning?”
Zhao Ying asked Liu Shuyao.
“It’s uncomfortable sleeping in a hospital bed; it’s better to rest properly at home.”
“What about Xiang Ran?”
“Isn’t he supposed to stay in the hospital with you?”
“He’s back too. We’re going to the hospital together in the morning,” Liu Shuyao explained.
“So? Just got back together and you’re not sharing a bed? Are you really going to pass up such a good opportunity?”
“Is your relationship not that strong?”
Li Meixun didn’t understand.
After Liu Shuyao finished unpacking, she collapsed onto her bed.
“Oh, good sister, please let me off for one night considering I’m still recovering from my illness~”
“You see me like this; I can’t keep you company~”
Only then did Li Meixun relent.
Liu Shuyao indeed still looked pale, lacking color.
“Right, right, right!”
“It’s my fault for not considering this; health comes first!”
“Do you feel any better now?”
“I feel weak all over~”
Liu Shuyao lazily lay in bed, pulling out her phone to send messages to her boyfriend.
