Until the door to the room closed with a "bang," Liu Shuyao's thoughts began to come back a bit.

She immediately went to check the paintings in the box.

Sure enough, some of them had already been smudged with other colors.

Liu Shuyao felt a bit heartbroken, but then she remembered her mother hadn’t overreacted about her dating, which made her feel a wave of relief.

So she quickly tidied up and took out her phone to message her boyfriend.

School Beauty: 【I came home for dinner and accidentally damaged the painting.】

School Beauty: 【Crying.jpg】

Xiang Ran: 【Is there anything that can be repaired?】

Xiang Ran: 【Is it very troublesome?】

School Beauty: 【Not too troublesome~ just feels like I might need to change the style.】

Xiang Ran: 【What style will you change it to?】

School Beauty: 【Feeling wronged.jpg】

School Beauty: 【No inspiration~ I don’t know~】

School Beauty: 【Wah wah wah......】

Xiang Ran: 【Have you finished eating? How about I take you to a place this afternoon?】

As soon as Liu Shuyao saw her boyfriend’s reply, her mind started to wander off, thinking of all sorts of strange things.

But her fingers were quick to reply, worried that if she took too long, her boyfriend might change his mind.

School Beauty: 【I can leave right now!!!!!!】

School Beauty: 【One minute!!】

Xiang Ran: 【Where are you? Should I come pick you up first? That art box looks heavy.】

School Beauty: 【No need, let’s just meet at a place~】

Xiang Ran: 【Location】

Liu Shuyao checked the location on her phone and was surprised it was there!

Her heart raced, and she packed up her things much faster, then hurried down the stairs.

Seeing Grandpa Liu still chatting with Zhou Zi'an, she went over to greet him.

“Grandpa, I have to go. I’ll come visit you another day~”

Grandpa Liu frowned when he saw his granddaughter rushing out so soon, about to say something, but Xu Ruya spoke first.

“Dad, Shuyao has school matters to attend to; she even brought her art box back.”

Hearing this, Grandpa Liu noticed the box behind his granddaughter and waved his hand to let her go.

“I told Uncle Zhang. He’ll drive you back.”

“Oh, okay.”

Liu Shuyao was quick to leave as soon as her grandfather agreed.

This time, unlike the calm Xu Ruya, Liu Dad was restless. He no longer cared about Zhou Zi'an and pulled his wife upstairs.

“Were you serious just now?”

“Shuyao has a boyfriend?”

Xu Ruya nodded.

“Look at how eager she was; she must be rushing to a date.”

Hearing this, Liu Dad furrowed his brows deeply.

“She’s so young! What’s she doing dating? Wasn’t she fully focused on pursuing art, pouring all her energy into painting?”

“Why does she suddenly have a boyfriend?”

“Is he reliable?”

“Where’s his family from? What’s his last name? What’s his name? What’s he like?”

“Why are you asking so much?”

Xu Ruya interrupted Liu Dad. “Besides, didn’t you just say you thought Zhou Zi'an was good?”

“That’s different; I know Zhou’s family well…”

"That wouldn’t fool her!"

"I'm not saying she should date; I just want her to meet people and make friends!"

"Yaoyao hasn’t been around many outsiders; I’m worried!"

Compared to Liu Dad’s anxious demeanor, Xu Ruya was much calmer.

"I suspect this boy might be the one from high school."

"High school?"

"My daughter was dating in high school?" Liu Dad’s blood pressure rose at the thought.

"Oh, it’s not like that. I think she might have had a little crush back then. I happened to see her phone wallpaper earlier; it was a picture of them side by side, and it looked a bit like him."

"Why didn’t you say that earlier!"

"What could I say? Back then, she insisted on studying art, causing chaos at home. Just thinking about it gives me a headache!"

Xu Ruya recalled that time in high school and spoke with frustration.

"If she hadn’t come back and admitted her mistake, I would never have agreed to her studying this!"

"Speaking of which, when I was on a business trip at the auction, I ran into her professor. I heard Yaoyao signed up for some art exhibition; it sounds quite prestigious."

"Don’t even mention that; I still disagree! What’s so good about studying painting?"

"Such a waste of time..."

Although Xu Ruya no longer intervened in her daughter’s painting, she still wasn’t keen on it.

Thinking about this made her head hurt. Not wanting to argue with Liu Dad, she turned to head downstairs for some fruit, leaving Liu Dad in the dark about any news regarding his future son-in-law.

Meanwhile, Liu Shuyao successfully met up with Xiang Ran.

Fortunately, Xiang Ran’s dad worked at a university not far from Ningzhou University, so Xiang Ran took his father’s car keys once again.

Seeing his son in such a hurry, Xiang Ran's dad contemplated whether he should buy his son another car.

The car stopped halfway up the hill, and the rest of the way required the two of them to walk.

Xiang Ran carried Liu Shuyao’s art box on his shoulder and held her hand as they walked up.

"How did you think of coming here?"

Liu Shuyao looked at the familiar location. It was the only time they went out together in high school. Someone had heard about meteors that night and gathered their classmates, all curious at the ages of fifteen or sixteen. Even though they knew it was probably unreliable, many came along.

At that time, she was arguing with her family about studying art and didn’t want to go home at night, so she signed up, thinking it would be a good way to escape for a bit.

Although they didn’t see any meteors that night, she and Xiang Ran spent a long time together.

"We came here to see the meteors before, right? I thought this place was nice; it might help you find some inspiration?"

As they talked, they continued up the path.

Soon, they reached a narrow trail, forcing them to lean closely together to pass through.

Liu Shuyao’s body was almost pressed against Xiang Ran’s chest, their noses nearly touching, hearts racing.

The school beauty’s hand slid down to Xiang Ran’s waist, suddenly stopping in place. Their lips were so close that they could feel each other’s breath without needing to lean in.

"Why aren’t we moving?"

Xiang Ran was concerned for Liu Shuyao, keeping an eye on her position.

Liu Shuyao seemed to recall something amusing.

"When we passed here last time, we were all so scared, and you stretched out your arm in such a cold manner, looking utterly reluctant."

Her voice trailed off with a playful tone, her big eyes blinking.

"But now you seem quite nervous about me~"

"Come on, let’s keep moving, alright?"

"I am nervous about you!"

Xiang Ran was thrown off by Liu Shuyao’s sudden halt. Although it wasn’t particularly dangerous, standing there wasn’t exactly ideal either.

Translation Update! 🍙 Translation Update! 🍙 ✨ Quick note: English isn't my first language, so please understand there might be some typos or awkward phrasing - I'm doing my best! ✨ Hey everyone, just a quick update: As of today, April 28, 2025 , I want to give you all a heads-up about a few small issues you might come across in the story, specifically with some of the prop names. It's not exactly a typo issue—it's more about changes I've made over time. For instance, I originally used the term 'data concealment number' but later changed it to 'number concealment data.' Since these are just prop names in the story, it's not a major issue for the plot, but I totally get that some of you might find it a little annoying if you're really particular about details. ...

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door ...

The broadcast from the main system echoed throughout the instance. In the pitch-black snowy night, accompanied by the eerie howling wind of the ebony forest, Jiang Yan felt utterly disoriented. The "Hunter" in front of him couldn’t hear the main system’s intrusive voice and was still waiting for his "little sheep" to kiss him. However, Jiang Yan simply reached out, gently touched the demon-like ram horns of the "Hunter," and then unhesitatingly pulled the blanket over his head. Hunter: "...So disobedient." Soon after, a kiss landed softly on the top of Jiang Yan's head. A pair of long, broad hands rested on his waist as the "Hunter" drifted into slumber. Meanwhile, the game forum’s players erupted into an explosive celebration: [I’m dying of laughter! What kind of penalty is this?? It’s my first time hearing such a ridiculous deduction reason!] [“Please immediately kiss the BOSS.” What the heck? Hahaha...] [This will go down...

Jiang Yan ignored 663, curling up under the blanket like a quail. The "Hunter" holding him would occasionally rub his head, seemingly captivated by the texture. Jiang Yan obediently played the role of a "pet." Based on his years of watching horror movies and reading scary stories, he knew that being "clever" or "kind-hearted" in such games only led to quicker deaths. "You still have five days," the Hunter said, savoring the softness and compliance of the person in his arms. His pale, pupil-less eyes glinted with pleasure. Although a sheep's head couldn't show human expressions, it was clear he was smiling. Hearing this, the four people huddled in the cage shivered in unison. Only Wang Yu sat blankly by the edge, tears streaming as he gazed at his lover. The "Cops and Robbers" Game The "Hunter" acted as the cop, giving the players (the "robbers") ten days to escape the forest. If they found t...

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post...
