Under the cover of night, the shadows of the trees danced, seemingly hiding some unspoken heartbeat of Liu Shuyao.
In the dimly lit surroundings, with a cobblestone path underfoot, Liu Shuyao focused on following Xiang Ran, completely unaware of where she was stepping.
"Ah!"
Suddenly hearing this exclamation, Xiang Ran felt something was wrong and quickly turned around, only to find the campus beauty kneeling on the ground.
She looked like a small cat seeking gentle strokes, her delicate fingers clutching her skirt as if softly caressing her own fur, exuding a sense of pitifulness in her gentle movements.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Xiang Ran bent down, reaching out to help her up.
Did she just fall out of nowhere?
He glanced around but saw nothing that could have caused her to trip.
Liu Shuyao’s face was flushed as she shyly shook her head, trying to get up on her own.
“I’m fine, just wasn’t paying attention.”
Xiang Ran quickly noticed the scraped mark on her right leg, glaringly obvious against her pale knee.
So, he stepped closer and crouched down to take a better look at the wound.
The girl was startled by his action, and when she realized he was only checking her injury, she became like a frightened rabbit, desperately trying to pull her skirt down to cover it.
She had specifically chosen a short skirt to look good, but who knew it would end up like this, discovered by her boyfriend.
Feeling aggrieved, Liu Shuyao crossed her legs to hide her knee from Xiang Ran's view.
“It’s too ugly!”
“Don’t look at it!”
She was clearly embarrassed, tugging at Xiang Ran, instinctively looking for something to cover herself, completely unaware of the need to tend to her injury.
Xiang Ran couldn't help but chuckle at her flustered actions, reaching out to pat her like a cat.
“Let’s go to the infirmary first.”
“Do you think I’m clumsy?”
Liu Shuyao pouted, her tone carrying a hint of complaint.
“A little.”
Xiang Ran found her adorable in this state and teased her back.
“Next time, don’t wear heels like that.”
Only then did he notice the slender strapped sandals she was wearing today.
“But they look good!”
The usually compliant Liu Shuyao was surprisingly stubborn this time, earnestly defending her choice.
“Did you hurt your ankle?”
The light was still dim; her scraped knee was clearly visible, but he couldn’t see her ankle well. Not wanting to directly touch it, he decided to help her sit on a nearby chair instead.
“Wait here, I’ll go get a bike.”
“Huh?”
Liu Shuyao was clearly dissatisfied with this decision, grabbing Xiang Ran’s wrist to stop him.
“I’m really fine, a hug will do!”
Her last plea was muffled, barely audible but incredibly persuasive.
No one could refuse the serious request for a hug from the campus beauty—unless they were one of the tech giants!
So, once again, Xiang Ran, calming himself with the light from his phone, made a swift exit.
He quickly returned, having borrowed a bike with a back seat from a classmate with a girlfriend.
“Get on.”
