 So serious?

Xiang Ran had some hesitation; he had never heard Liu Shuyiao speak in this tone before.

It felt a bit strange, an inexplicable sense of having done something wrong, and then he stood up and followed the school beauty into a small meeting room.

As soon as he stepped inside, he heard the "thud" of the door closing.

Before Xiang Ran could react, Liu Shuyiao had thrown herself into his arms.

In an instant, it felt as if Liu Shuyiao had completely occupied his thoughts.

His senses were filled with her presence.

Liu Shuyiao hugged Xiang Ran tightly, her little head rubbing against his chest like an anxious cat.

In September, the temperature in Ningzhou was still warm enough for short sleeves; the thin fabric offered little barrier.

The sensation of their skin touching felt like a temptation, gradually invading every nerve in Xiang Ran's body.

“What… what's going on?”

“I just saw her almost leaning on your shoulder!!!”

While hugging Xiang Ran's waist tightly, Liu Shuyiao buried her face in his chest, her voice sweet and accusatory.

She was nowhere near the serious demeanor from earlier.

Xiang Ran could feel his heart racing, his body tensing up.

Every move of the school beauty in his arms stimulated his nerves, making his voice low and hoarse as he tried to explain.

“N-no, it wasn’t like that.”

“I’ll be more careful next time.”

Liu Shuyiao lifted her little head slightly, her warm breath tickling his neck, both delightful and irritating.

“I’m not blaming you.”

“I just…”

“Just feeling a bit jealous~”

Her small hand began to draw circles on his waist again.

Xiang Ran couldn’t handle it and had to use a bit of force to create some distance between them.

“Anyway, most of the work is done; I can finish the rest tomorrow.”

“Hmm~~~”

“Can I help you then?”

“No need, it’s not much.”

Liu Shuyiao tilted her head back to look at him, and in the light, Xiang Ran could see his reflection in her bright eyes.

He sensed a hint of disappointment in her gaze and, on a whim, wanted to do something.

“Do you have plans tonight? How about playing basketball? Didn’t you want to learn?”

“Hmm?”

Upon hearing this option, Liu Shuyiao’s eyes lit up, her ears turning a bit pink, clearly excited.

“Aren’t you busy?”

She looked up at him, her tone rising with anticipation.

“I can do it tomorrow.”

“Okay, okay~”

Liu Shuyiao nodded eagerly.

The two didn’t stay long in the small meeting room before stepping out together.

“Just wait for me to change my clothes, okay?”

Xiang Ran thought it would only take a moment, but seeing the eager look on the school beauty’s face, he nodded in agreement.

In just a few minutes, Liu Shuyiao came down dressed.

She wore a light pink basketball outfit, the loose clothing making her look even smaller, her waist-length hair tied up in a lively ponytail. The shorts reached her knees, revealing her delicate joints, her legs pale and smooth, wearing a pair of sneakers as she ran toward him.

Upon seeing her boyfriend, Liu Shuyiao’s smile widened, the corners of her mouth curving, making Xiang Ran feel like even the air around them was sweet.

“Let’s go~”

Xiang Ran nodded but, adjusting his breath as he watched the school beauty heading toward the basketball court, suddenly changed his mind.

“Let’s go to the basketball gym instead.”

“Hmm?”

For a moment, Liu Shuyiao didn’t understand the difference and took a moment to realize.

“You mean the gym from the last game?”

Xiang Ran nodded, quickly pulling out his phone to make a reservation.

Fortunately, that gym charged a fee, but it was generally available, making it easy to book.

“That gym costs money, doesn’t it?”

As they stood under the streetlight, several classmates passed by, whispering, and many took three steps for every one they walked.

“Not really.”

Xiang Ran could imagine the stir Liu Shuyiao would cause if she appeared at the basketball court looking like this.

“Is it just us two?”

“Yep.”

Hearing this question from Liu Shuyiao, Xiang Ran thought she might be unwilling, but to his surprise, she became even more enthusiastic, quickening her pace.

“Then let’s hurry~”

When they arrived at the basketball gym, it was indeed empty.

Xiang Ran grabbed a basketball and took a few practice shots before calling Liu Shuyiao over.

“What do you want to learn? Dribbling basics?”

Learn what?

Of course, she wanted to learn any moves that allowed for some closeness~

Though that was what Liu Shuyiao thought, she still responded honestly.

“Hmm~”

“Let’s just learn shooting for now~”

Xiang Ran nodded, took the ball, dribbled it a couple of times, leaped, and smoothly shot the ball into the hoop.

“Give it a try?”

As soon as he turned, he saw Liu Shuyiao standing obediently, tilting her head and watching intently.

“Hmm?”

“I still can’t do it~”

“No worries, just throw one randomly to get a feel for it.”

Finally, Liu Shuyiao took the ball and mimicked Xiang Ran’s earlier actions, throwing it toward the hoop.

But…

She didn’t have enough distance, strength, or proper form…

It didn’t even graze the rim; she was about two meters away.

Ugh…

So far away…

Liu Shuyiao looked at Xiang Ran, a little disheartened, her eyes drooping.

“Feet naturally apart, lean slightly forward, hold the ball in the palm, thumb slightly to one side, and evenly distribute the fingers around the ball.”

“Then like this…”

Xiang Ran demonstrated the pre-jump motion.

Liu Shuyiao followed suit, trying again.

Still a miss.

“Your power point is off; feel the strength from your elbow and shoulder.”

Liu Shuyiao hugged the ball, while Xiang Ran watched from the side.

After several failed attempts, Liu Shuyiao felt a bit down, mostly because her boyfriend was too far away, right?

Is this how you teach basketball?

Why not just use a loudspeaker to shout it out!

She was almost out of bounds!

“I can’t feel anything~”

Liu Shuyiao stretched her hand, slightly lowering her head and stomping her foot as she mumbled.

“Come over and help me~”

Xiang Ran finally stepped a bit closer, standing on Liu Shuyiao’s left.

“Stand behind me; how can you feel anything like this?”

“What am I supposed to feel?” Xiang Ran didn’t understand, but he still moved behind Liu Shuyiao.

“Now that you say I can’t feel it, teach me how to feel it.”

“Please~”

With that soft tone, Xiang Ran found it hard to resist, and with the two of them so close, it stirred up his chaotic thoughts.

Liu Shuyiao was almost leaning against him, yet she looked like a curious student, her eyes full of confusion.

“Is this okay?”

Liu Shuyiao mimicked the forward lean he had just described, adjusting her posture, then turned to ask Xiang Ran if it looked right.

“Does this need to be a bit higher?”

Translation Update! 🍙 Translation Update! 🍙 ✨ Quick note: English isn't my first language, so please understand there might be some typos or awkward phrasing - I'm doing my best! ✨ Hey everyone, just a quick update: As of today, April 28, 2025 , I want to give you all a heads-up about a few small issues you might come across in the story, specifically with some of the prop names. It's not exactly a typo issue—it's more about changes I've made over time. For instance, I originally used the term 'data concealment number' but later changed it to 'number concealment data.' Since these are just prop names in the story, it's not a major issue for the plot, but I totally get that some of you might find it a little annoying if you're really particular about details. ...

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door ...

The broadcast from the main system echoed throughout the instance. In the pitch-black snowy night, accompanied by the eerie howling wind of the ebony forest, Jiang Yan felt utterly disoriented. The "Hunter" in front of him couldn’t hear the main system’s intrusive voice and was still waiting for his "little sheep" to kiss him. However, Jiang Yan simply reached out, gently touched the demon-like ram horns of the "Hunter," and then unhesitatingly pulled the blanket over his head. Hunter: "...So disobedient." Soon after, a kiss landed softly on the top of Jiang Yan's head. A pair of long, broad hands rested on his waist as the "Hunter" drifted into slumber. Meanwhile, the game forum’s players erupted into an explosive celebration: [I’m dying of laughter! What kind of penalty is this?? It’s my first time hearing such a ridiculous deduction reason!] [“Please immediately kiss the BOSS.” What the heck? Hahaha...] [This will go down...

Jiang Yan ignored 663, curling up under the blanket like a quail. The "Hunter" holding him would occasionally rub his head, seemingly captivated by the texture. Jiang Yan obediently played the role of a "pet." Based on his years of watching horror movies and reading scary stories, he knew that being "clever" or "kind-hearted" in such games only led to quicker deaths. "You still have five days," the Hunter said, savoring the softness and compliance of the person in his arms. His pale, pupil-less eyes glinted with pleasure. Although a sheep's head couldn't show human expressions, it was clear he was smiling. Hearing this, the four people huddled in the cage shivered in unison. Only Wang Yu sat blankly by the edge, tears streaming as he gazed at his lover. The "Cops and Robbers" Game The "Hunter" acted as the cop, giving the players (the "robbers") ten days to escape the forest. If they found t...

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post...
