"Can your tail be changed into legs?"
Gu Zhan asked.
"Of course." This time, when entering the Star Disk space, Mo Tuo seemed to have more authority than before.
He released Gu Zhan, and his figure turned into a black mist. When he landed again, he had returned to the appearance Gu Zhan had seen before—wearing a black cloak, the "deity" worshiped by the town's residents.
Gu Zhan looked at him and frowned slightly, seemingly dissatisfied.
Mo Tuo asked, "What’s wrong?"
Gu Zhan said, "You can appear in human form, so... was the mermaid statue and tail purely a personal hobby?"
Before the space evolved, Mo Tuo was influenced by Gu Zhan’s power and could only appear in the form of a mermaid. When Gu Zhan didn’t summon him, he could hardly enter.
But now, Gu Zhan felt that Mo Tuo could come and go freely in this space.
In other words, the mermaid statue that had restrained him was now completely ineffective, yet this guy still pretended he couldn't walk and lay on Gu Zhan’s lap, acting cute—it was clearly intentional.
Gu Zhan glanced at Mo Tuo with even more disdain.
Mo Tuo wasn’t upset by the disdain, instead grinning and moving closer, asking, "Do you want me to accompany you to the town to take a look?"
Gu Zhan did have this thought. The town had been moved from Mo Tuo’s instance, and they might still remember Mo Tuo.
"Let’s go."
Gu Zhan stood up and walked outside.
As they passed the church, they ran into Xiao Xiu and Sun Jingqiu.
These two seemed even more fearful of Mo Tuo, standing far against the wall and watching them from a distance.
Mo Tuo wanted to greet them, but Gu Zhan quickly grabbed him and pulled him away.
They passed through the church and reached the entrance, where they saw the town’s residents walking towards them.
Gu Zhan stopped, originally intending to wait for the residents to approach and observe their reactions, but Mo Tuo suddenly hugged him. Black mist spread beneath their feet, forming steps, and Mo Tuo half-carried, half-pulled him into the air.
Gu Zhan was startled, his eyes widened, and he turned to look at Mo Tuo. "What are you doing?"
Mo Tuo only thought that this human was so beautiful, even when angry, his expression was so lively.
In a good mood, he squinted and smiled, saying, "They’ll definitely scream when they see me, maybe even kneel and worship. It’s annoying, don’t let them see me."
Gu Zhan looked at him suspiciously, uncertain if this was true or just Mo Tuo being narcissistic.
But in the end, he didn’t say anything and lowered his gaze, watching the residents slowly approach the church. Soon, he realized that Mo Tuo wasn’t being narcissistic, because even without them standing at the entrance, the residents began to kneel, taking one step and bowing at each step.
Mo Tuo said, "During the time you disappeared, time here also moved forward. So now, you’re already a legendary figure. Their reaction is a bit intense at first, but it’s understandable."
Gu Zhan asked, "Do all instances’ timelines move forward?"
That instance would be very uncontrollable.
However, in most of the instances Gu Zhan had been to, although the timeline moved forward, the content of the instance hadn’t changed much.
Mo Tuo said, "Everything in an instance is shaped by the preferences of the instance owner. It’s just that because you like it this way, it became like this. There are also many instances without time, or even space."
His own preferences?
Gu Zhan asked himself and, in a daze, realized the answer—it seemed to be true. He didn’t want the instance to turn into stagnant water after he left. To him, these were all living beings. And when something is alive, it's normal for time to move forward.
He stopped dwelling on it and said to Mo Tuo, "Let’s go to the town."
The black mist around Mo Tuo gathered into a black cloak, enveloping both of them. The steps spread, and without Gu Zhan needing to move, they headed towards the town.
Not long later, they arrived above the town. Mo Tuo chose a deserted corner to land.
Then he reached out his hand to Gu Zhan. "Let’s go."
Earlier, Gu Zhan had been surrounded by the town’s residents and hadn’t had the chance to look at things properly. Now, wearing the cloak to conceal his true form, they could explore freely.
The town had developed well, now twice as large as before. However, the sign at the entrance was blank, meaning the town still didn’t have a name.
Mo Tuo said, "You can name this place."
Gu Zhan looked at the blank stone tablet and thought for a long time. "Let’s call it... Chenxing Town."
This was the space of the Star Disk watch, and by slightly altering it, the name didn’t sound so strange.
As soon as Gu Zhan spoke, the blank stone tablet in front of him displayed the words "Chenxing Town" as if laser-printed, with each stroke of the characters appearing clearly.
The town’s residents seemed to sense something and began rushing towards the entrance.
Gu Zhan pulled the cloak and said to Mo Tuo, "Let’s go."
Mo Tuo laughed and, holding Gu Zhan, flew up to the nearby rooftop.
After landing, he didn’t leave. Instead, he lifted Gu Zhan’s cloak and leaned over him.
Gu Zhan slightly frowned, arching his slender waist backward to push against Mo Tuo’s chest. "What are you doing?"
Mo Tuo’s gaze was intense, his eyes full of unmasked desire.
Gu Zhan suddenly regretted tempting the evil god. This creature had no human morals and always wanted to indulge in desire at any time and place.
“Let go of me.” Beneath the roof were devout believers, and Gu Zhan couldn’t afford to behave recklessly in front of them. He resisted and pushed Mo Tuo away.
Mo Tuo didn’t force himself, though. He just stared at Gu Zhan for a moment, then suddenly buried his face into Gu Zhan’s neck, rubbing it like a child. He took Gu Zhan's hand and placed it on his chest.
“My heart is beating so fast.”
His innocent words made Gu Zhan’s heart race just as fast.
This monster...
Was he doing this on purpose?
Gu Zhan quickly yanked his hand away from Mo Tuo’s chest, pushing him back, taking a small step back, turning slightly to face Mo Tuo and saying in a low voice, “What nonsense are you saying?”
Mo Tuo stood still, not understanding his own reactions. He only instinctively felt that it was related to Gu Zhan.
It should... not be a bad thing, right?
Gu Zhan no longer dared to approach Mo Tuo, not knowing what strange things this monster might say next.
Monsters always speak their mind, regardless of whether the human they’re speaking to lives or dies.
Gu Zhan, with his back to Mo Tuo, couldn’t help but press on his chest.
There were people on the roof below, and the two couldn’t leave. They could only sit on the roof and wait for the crowd below to disperse.
Gu Zhan finally stood up and said, “It’s getting late. I need to return to Chun Bai Cheng. As for you…”
He glanced at Mo Tuo and said, “You should be unrestrained now, able to move freely between places, right?”
Mo Tuo nodded.
Gu Zhan continued, “I’m going to sleep first. You can do as you please.”
After that, he left the Star Disk space.
Lying in bed, the weariness that felt like water overwhelmed him. Gu Zhan almost didn’t struggle and fell asleep instantly.
In his sleep, Gu Zhan felt something approaching him.
With a familiar scent, he instinctively turned his body, rolling into the embrace, where he was tightly held and fell into deep slumber.
He didn’t know how long he slept, but gradually, his consciousness began to awaken. His body was still sunk in the soft and warm bedding, with a solid chest behind him, and a hand loosely draped across his chest.
Gu Zhan pushed at the chest and, as expected, heard a murmur from behind. The person gently patted him and softly reassured, “Sleep, sleep…”
Gu Zhan became more awake. He looked out the window, and it was already bright outside.
He must have slept from one day into the next.
Gu Zhan pushed Mo Tuo’s hand away and sat up.
Mo Tuo finally opened his eyes, looking at him in a daze. “Are you getting up?”
Gu Zhan wasn’t sure when Mo Tuo had come in, but judging by the situation, it seemed like Mo Tuo had followed shortly after he lay down.
He claimed to be able to move freely now, but he wasn’t even pretending anymore.
Gu Zhan had slept so long because he was exhausted from clearing and creating instances, but what about this monster?
Was it just because he liked to sleep?
Gu Zhan glanced at Mo Tuo with disgust. “I’m going to meet our guild members. You shouldn’t follow me.”
“Why?” Mo Tuo immediately became alert.
Gu Zhan opened his mouth, unsure how to explain. After all, he was a monster, and it didn’t seem fitting for a monster to blend into the group of players.
But Mo Tuo smiled and said, “Didn’t you want me to help with your Chun Bai Cheng issues? Now that I’m here, take me to meet your friends. How about it?”
Gu Zhan: “…”
After a brief silence, Gu Zhan finally nodded.
To avoid startling Yu Yezhou and the others, he sent a message to Yu Yezhou before leaving the room, explaining that Mo Tuo would be coming.
Yu Yezhou responded with ten exclamation marks.
He didn’t say whether it was okay or not... but since he didn’t refuse, it seemed to mean it was fine?
Gu Zhan checked that both he and Mo Tuo were properly dressed before heading towards the guild’s main assembly hall.
Along the way, they passed several people who looked at them with surprise. Gu Zhan stopped several times to check if there was something odd on his face.
Seeing his confusion, Mo Tuo laughed and explained, “You’ve spent so much time with me that you probably don’t notice. To them, I must seem very out of place.”
Monsters and humans emit different auras. The players in the Mountain Ze guild were experienced, and naturally, they had some intuition.
Gu Zhan looked at Mo Tuo. Was that so? Had he really gotten used to being with Mo Tuo?
Soon, they reached the assembly hall. As the door opened, Yu Yezhou, Yang Lin, Sang Yue, and Xu Yu were all present.
The grand setup startled Gu Zhan for a moment.
Everyone stood in a row, all looking towards the door.
As soon as Gu Zhan and Mo Tuo entered, their gazes immediately fell on Gu Zhan… or more precisely, on Mo Tuo.
Mo Tuo was calm and relaxed, accepting everyone’s gaze.
Gu Zhan couldn’t figure out what they meant, so he didn’t step forward.
After a moment, Sang Yue sighed and said, “The bride finally meets the parents.”
Gu Zhan: “?”
Sang Yue’s eyes dimmed as they landed on Gu Zhan. “The cabbage in the field was still dug up by a pig.”
Gu Zhan: “??”
Yu Yezhou also said, “A son who has been married off… well, water poured out from the son.”
Gu Zhan: “…What are you all talking about?”
As soon as he spoke, the tension in the room eased. Sang Yue stood up and welcomed them in, “Ah, I wasn’t saying anything, I was just talking nonsense. Come in, sit, sit.”
She said this, but her eyes didn’t dare to look directly at Mo Tuo.
She was still wary of this monster.
Mo Tuo grinned, but didn’t say anything. He walked to the other side of the table and sat down.
Now, Yu Yezhou and the others all turned their heads and stared at Mo Tuo.
Without Gu Zhan by Mo Tuo’s side, they seemed even more nervous.
Gu Zhan then understood what they meant.
He sighed deeply, stepped forward, and patted Yu Yezhou’s shoulder, saying, “Don’t be nervous. He’s here to help us with our problems.”
