Chapter 20 (Peachland)

Chapter 20

The two of them went upstairs together, and they found a few people already standing at the staircase.

As they moved forward, they reached the third floor. The white walls were smeared with blood, and the door to the first room was wide open, with blood flowing down the floor.

A man was sitting with his back to the door. His clothes were drenched in blood, making it hard to tell what they looked like before. His face was a horrifying mess of blood and flesh, and his neck was twisted at an unnatural angle, with only skin and flesh hanging loosely. He had clearly been dead for a while.

The dead man was Zhou Wen. Liang Zuo, who shared a room with him, was hiding in the closet, trembling and looking terrified. He seemed deeply shocked and on the verge of a breakdown.

On the third floor, there were three rooms. The middle one was the suite where Wang Hai and Fang Qing were staying. The door was shut, and Fang Qing’s body lay crookedly outside. Her head had rolled to one side, and the cut on her neck was clean and precise. Her arms were stretched out, with her well-manicured nails facing outward, as if she was reaching out for help, but no one came.

Wang Hai, inside the room, was stunned by what he saw. Fang Qing’s body was blocking the doorway, preventing him from moving backward or entering. Despite his fear, he felt a small, hard-to-notice relief. If he hadn’t acted quickly the night before and used the tools he’d gotten from Zhou Wen to save himself, he might be in the same situation as Fang Qing.

In a survival game, people couldn’t afford to worry about others; their own lives were the priority.

The door to the third room was also closed, and it looked very quiet from the outside. But everyone knew the young man and woman inside might be in serious danger.

There was a lot of blood outside the last room’s door, spread across the walls and floor. Since Fang Qing and Zhou Wen’s deaths were some distance away, it couldn’t be their blood.

"How could this happen? They were fine yesterday," Zhou Yun said, her face turning pale as she stepped back. The scene was shocking.

If Ye Nianchu hadn’t suspected Ding Qi and her of working together, she might have believed it.

"There’s someone in the last room. Should we check it out? Maybe someone is still alive," Ding Qi suggested strongly.

The two waiters at the B&B shook their heads. They were just employees and didn’t want to risk their lives.

Ding Qi turned to the others. Ye Nianchu stepped back, showing she didn’t want to go.

As for the teenager, Ding Qi ignored him. "Why don’t we go together?" Ding Qi proposed.

Wang Hai hesitated but then felt the weapon in his pocket. He knew running away wouldn’t solve anything. He needed to find out what was happening to figure out how to survive. It was daytime, he had a weapon, and Ding Qi was alone, so he could escape if things went wrong.

There was still no signal today. Ye Nianchu looked at her phone and hurried downstairs, looking scared and like she was trying to escape.

Back in her room, she opened the photo again.

Sure enough, the photo had changed.

Three new faces had appeared.

Even though many people had died today, only three new faces showed up in the photo. This was a bad sign. It likely meant the faces in the photo pointed to the remaining players.

Do I need to gather all seven players to finish early?

Translation Update! 🍙 Translation Update! 🍙 ✨ Quick note: English isn't my first language, so please understand there might be some typos or awkward phrasing - I'm doing my best! ✨ Hey everyone, just a quick update: As of today, April 28, 2025 , I want to give you all a heads-up about a few small issues you might come across in the story, specifically with some of the prop names. It's not exactly a typo issue—it's more about changes I've made over time. For instance, I originally used the term 'data concealment number' but later changed it to 'number concealment data.' Since these are just prop names in the story, it's not a major issue for the plot, but I totally get that some of you might find it a little annoying if you're really particular about details. ...

“Bang—” The air trembled, and bright light hit Gu Zhan's eyelids, making him squint. “Patient 707 has been admitted.” A cold female voice sounded. Patient 707? Who? Gu Zhan squinted against the blinding light and realized he was lying down under a surgical shadowless lamp. Next to him stood several people in deep green surgical scrubs, their faces obscured by the light. One of them leaned over to look at him; the blue medical mask covered most of his features, leaving only a pair of narrow, dark eyes visible. He said, “707 has woken up. Administer a sedative.” A syringe pierced the back of Gu Zhan's hand, and the cold liquid flowed in, gradually blurring his consciousness... ... “Crash—” “Bang!” The sound of metal clashing echoed sharply. A metal bed was forcefully pushed away, sliding a great distance before crashing against the wall. Gu Zhan's head struck the bed frame heavily, and the intense pain momentarily brought him back to awareness. Then came the sound of a door ...

The broadcast from the main system echoed throughout the instance. In the pitch-black snowy night, accompanied by the eerie howling wind of the ebony forest, Jiang Yan felt utterly disoriented. The "Hunter" in front of him couldn’t hear the main system’s intrusive voice and was still waiting for his "little sheep" to kiss him. However, Jiang Yan simply reached out, gently touched the demon-like ram horns of the "Hunter," and then unhesitatingly pulled the blanket over his head. Hunter: "...So disobedient." Soon after, a kiss landed softly on the top of Jiang Yan's head. A pair of long, broad hands rested on his waist as the "Hunter" drifted into slumber. Meanwhile, the game forum’s players erupted into an explosive celebration: [I’m dying of laughter! What kind of penalty is this?? It’s my first time hearing such a ridiculous deduction reason!] [“Please immediately kiss the BOSS.” What the heck? Hahaha...] [This will go down...

Jiang Yan ignored 663, curling up under the blanket like a quail. The "Hunter" holding him would occasionally rub his head, seemingly captivated by the texture. Jiang Yan obediently played the role of a "pet." Based on his years of watching horror movies and reading scary stories, he knew that being "clever" or "kind-hearted" in such games only led to quicker deaths. "You still have five days," the Hunter said, savoring the softness and compliance of the person in his arms. His pale, pupil-less eyes glinted with pleasure. Although a sheep's head couldn't show human expressions, it was clear he was smiling. Hearing this, the four people huddled in the cage shivered in unison. Only Wang Yu sat blankly by the edge, tears streaming as he gazed at his lover. The "Cops and Robbers" Game The "Hunter" acted as the cop, giving the players (the "robbers") ten days to escape the forest. If they found t...

In early September, during a Mathematical Analysis class at A University of Science and Technology, the sophomore students were noticeably distracted. The young professor at the podium glanced down and spotted a large group of students engrossed in their phones. Though he wasn’t a high school teacher, he couldn’t help but lament inwardly: “This generation is worse than the last. Even in Math Analysis class, they dare to slack off?” He could already envision the dismal outcomes on the final grades. Clearing his throat somewhat theatrically, he still received no attention. Growing annoyed, the professor resolved to be tough with the grades this year to combat this poor attitude. At the back of the classroom, Ge Zhicheng's heart raced as he continuously refreshed the backend of the academic system's page. What the professor didn’t know was that today was the day for second-year students in the College of Science to be reassigned to dormitories; the assignment list would be post...
