Chapter 104

Chapter 104: Lost Song of the Deep (31)

The cargo hold was now only occupied by Ye Nianchu, Qin Mubai, and a few unfortunate sirens.

Ye Nianchu fired several shots at the ceiling. The iron blocks, weakened by seawater over time, cracked and fell away, creating a large hole big enough for dozens of people to pass through.

This was part of the plan for the sirens. They wouldn’t be foolish enough to jump in right away; they would wait until the cargo hold became a more favorable environment.

The right moment to act would be when the sea began to rise.

Gasoline, with its low ignition point and tendency to float on water, would burn easily. Fire and high temperatures are deadly to sirens, so it wouldn’t take long to achieve their goal.

Ye Nianchu glanced at a siren on the ground, gasping its last breaths and desperately calling for others. She continued to pour gasoline over the area.

The sounds made by the siren were far from pleasant.

The Ghost Ship began to sink. The sound of hurried footsteps came from the iron staircase, as if someone was racing for their life.

Ye Nianchu and Qin Mubai retreated into the shadows, waiting.

Whatever was coming down could not interfere with their plan.

Meanwhile, Zhong Liang was having a rough time. For the third time, he was being taken away. On the deck, a multitude of sirens had appeared—at least a few hundred by a rough count.

He could only run down and figure out a solution later. "Holy crap, are the sirens gathering for a feast?"

No sooner had he spoken than a gun was pointed at his head.

The faint smell of smoke and gasoline filled his nostrils. Zhong Liang quickly raised his hands, almost getting shot by the two big shot who mistook him for a siren.

"Sorry, I'll get right out of here."

He tried to move up the stairs, finding the two of them even scarier than the sirens.

"Don’t move unless you’re told to," Ye Nianchu said coldly. "Take another step back and I’ll shoot."

With only one staircase to exit, it would be very troublesome if someone ran up and damaged it.

Qin Mubai lazily lifted his gaze. The moonlight peeking through the clouds reflected off the weapon in his hand.

Zhong Liang looked at the two of them, feeling a chill run down his spine. "You two, don’t worry. I’m definitely not moving!"

"What’s the situation above?" Ye Nianchu asked.

"Just sirens, not a single person." Zhong Liang had initially thought he was the only one taken aboard the Ghost Ship today and planned to wait for the waves to come so he could swim back.

Having props made him quite confident and not worried at all.

But what he hadn’t expected was that, instead of waves, sirens were arriving.

Bang—

A siren fell through the hole in the top of the cargo hold, followed by more sirens pouring in, even up the stairs.

Too many sirens on the stairs would overload it.

The two had already planned for this scenario, with one guarding each side.

This strategy tested their mutual trust, especially the one who went up the stairs first to block the sirens.

Remaining in the cargo hold meant facing greater danger and pressure.

According to the plan, Ye Nianchu went up the stairs, found a stable spot, and secured a rope. This way, even if the stairs collapsed, Qin Mubai could still get up.

Zhong Liang was more worried about himself than about the actions of the two.

From the moment Ye Nianchu went up, or rather, from the moment she turned around, Qin Mubai’s demeanor changed.

Later, he lifted his leg and kicked down several sirens behind him.

Zhong Liang tried to minimize his presence, obeying the big men’s orders. If he didn’t want to die in this round, he better not cause any trouble, or his fate might not be much better than the sirens'.

Ye Nianchu ascended the stairs, saw a few sirens pushing their way in, shot the two at the front, and then stepped forward to guard the entrance.

She became a target for some of the sirens, but it didn’t last long.

Chapter 2 (Peachland)

Chapter 2 "It's not impossible," the man across from her said, picking up some food with his chopsticks. "The system doesn’t reveal anything, and there's no response when we ask." Deng Lan agreed. She had been watching a drama at home, and then, in a blink, she was suddenly in this game. She couldn’t quit; it felt like a bad deal she had no choice but to accept. She had never seen a game this awful. Luckily, she was fortunate. When she met Ding Qi, another new player, Deng Lan was relieved to finally find a teammate. Being alone in the game was scarier than being pulled into it. "Why don’t we stay near the town exit and, on the sixth day, leave right away at dawn?" Deng Lan suggested. A hint of sarcasm flashed in Ding Qi’s eyes, but he didn’t show it. He seriously analyzed, "I think the game won’t let us pass that easily. The closer we get to the exit, the more dangerous it might be." Deng Lan didn’t know what Ding Qi was thinking, but hi

Max-Level Big Shot in the Survival Game

When Ye Nianchu is brought back into the game as a newbie, her bad luck seems to follow her everywhere. As she searches for clues, she heads straight for the BOSS. But stockpiling supplies turns into a crisis as she struggles on the way. "This game is too hard," she mutters. "Maybe all my luck was used up just meeting Qin Mubai." When they first meet, Ye Nianchu sees the boy with a paintbrush and thinks, "This NPC is really good-looking." Later, though, the boy holds a craft knife like a killer, but his smile is both kind and harmless. "Others are just trying to survive," she thinks. "He’s just playing a game. What kind of game is this? Can I report him for cheating?" In this game, players face a peaceful town that suddenly becomes a dangerous apocalypse, songs from the deep sea, a train that disappears mysteriously, a strange rainforest, and a weird sanatorium. "Danger keeps coming. Players either finish tasks to leave or die in t

Chapter 5 (Peachland)

Chapter 5 There were meals available at the B&B, but of course, they cost extra. After dinner, Ye Nianchu went up to the public terrace. From there, she could see the entire town at a glance. Smoke rose from the chimneys along the riverbank, and her gaze fell on the Huanzhen River. On the sixth day, if she couldn't leave this place, the mission would fail. The first day was almost over, and she didn’t have much time left to figure out how to pass the game. As the wind blew through the mountains, lifting her hair and the hem of her clothes, she suddenly noticed a figure. On the other side of the terrace, in front of an easel, sat a young man. He was tall and had a handsome, upright figure. His face was like it had been chiseled by a master sculptor. Pale skin, delicate features—he looked like a portrait come to life. Even from a distance, Ye Nianchu found it hard to look away. The boy held a paintbrush in his hand. His fingers were long and elegant. His clean, gentle appearance

Chapter 11 (Peachland)

Chapter 11 Some people, curious about the scene, came closer and quickly felt sick. The thought that the fish they had eaten for a midnight snack last night might have come from this river only made their fear worse. "I never want to eat fish again," someone said, shuddering. Nearby, several tourists who had stayed at the same B&B as the deceased, along with the B&B owner, stood together, looking very worried. The person they had shared a meal with just yesterday was now dead. "I saw Deng Lan last night; how could this happen?" Zhou Yun said, trembling. "Boss, did Deng Lan leave the B&B last night?" someone asked. The B&B was small, run by the owner herself, with no other staff except for a cleaning lady. The owner usually stayed at the front desk until locking up for the night before going to bed. The owner, looking pale and nervous, hesitated before answering, "I—I don't know. I didn’t pay much attention." The owner knew Den

Chapter 6 (Peachland)

Chapter 6 "As for the early clearance, those who got their qualification today might be S-ranked players," Wang Hai said. Wang Hai was still searching for someone, so he couldn’t give more details. Liang Zuo and Zhou Wen felt anxious but tried to hide it. They were beginning to think Wang Hai, who bragged about being a top player, seemed more like a con artist. "You newbies don’t know anything," Wang Hai said, glancing at them. "Since we're in the same game, let me give you a tip. For newbies like you, besides completing the quests, you should avoid top S-ranked players." "If you meet someone else, you might get lucky and clear the game with them. But if you run into one particular player, you’d better be careful." "Who?" Liang Zuo asked, leaning in. "We don’t know his name, but his last name is Qin. He’s an S-ranked big shot. It’s said that in one game round, almost everyone died, not because of the game, but because of him. T
