At this moment in the boys' dormitory.
After returning from the National Day holiday, Wang Hao resumed his busy routine and was rarely seen in the room.
The sound of the fat guy furiously typing on the keyboard while playing games filled the dormitory.
“You guys just keep playing. I’ll take the cable outside; someone will definitely come back.”
“And then…”
Triple Kill!!!
A loud voice announcement echoed in the boys' dormitory.
“Garbage game!”
After losing, the fat guy quit the game in frustration and grabbed a bag of chips to see what Qi Dong was chatting about.
With the debate competition approaching, he and Zhao Ying had been searching for over ten topics in the last couple of days, but they still hadn’t decided on one.
“How do you view the issue of the capable doing more work?”
“Do you support compulsory love courses in college?”
“Should we support unreliable dreams?”
“If you receive life advice from your future self in 30 years, should you check it out?”
The fat guy read off a few and suddenly became intrigued by the second one.
“What would a compulsory love course even cover?”
“What else could it cover? It’s about what love is,” Qi Dong replied, thinking the question was quite insightful.
“So, what is love?”
“Love is the manifestation of mutual affection between two people. Its definition varies across different eras. In modern terms, it refers to the genuine admiration one feels for another based on certain conditions and shared life ideals, along with the strongest, most stable, and devoted desire for the other to be one’s lifelong partner.”
Qi Dong recited this from a Baidu search result.
The fat guy frowned as he listened, feeling as if he was back in a useless career guidance class.
“What a waste!”
“If that’s the case, I think we should skip this class.”
“Right, Brother Ran?”
The fat guy glanced at Xiang Ran, who was lying on the bed.
Unbeknownst to them, Xiang Ran hadn’t heard a word of their conversation. Ever since he dropped Liu Shuyao off, he had felt increasingly uneasy. If he had suspected something before, he was now almost certain.
He puzzled over how Liu Shuyao suddenly remembered everything. For her, it was a good thing, indicating her brain had fully recovered. But what about him?
Had he just stepped into love only for it to dry up?
Lost in thought, he nearly rear-ended someone while driving. When he finally stumbled back to the dorm, he collapsed onto his bed.
He stared at the messages Liu Shuyao had sent him for two minutes, unsure how to respond.
“Brother Ran, what’s going on tonight?”
“Skipping a class in the afternoon was one thing, but you look like you’ve lost your soul since coming back!”
At this point, Qi Dong also glanced up at the upper bunk.
Then he spoke mysteriously, “Have you noticed that for the past month, every time Brother Ran comes back, he just goes straight to bed? I think his computer is almost permanently set up in his backpack.”
“And he comes back holding his phone, typing away!”
“More importantly…”
“Hasn’t he been to the library in a while?”
Qi Dong rambled on, analyzing Brother Ran’s recent dating topics, and as he looked back at the situation
Ran definitely has a problem!
“He must be in love!”
Qi Dong replied decisively.
“Look at him smiling at his phone like a blooming flower... or with a frown?”
Qi Dong didn’t finish his sentence, seeing Xiang Ran’s face full of gloom, which made him change his words.
“How could this expression mean he’s in love?”
Qi Dong kept mumbling below, while the fat guy went straight to the point.
“Ran, did you break up?”
The last three words made the three in the dorm exchange glances. Qi Dong was dumbfounded. Did he just say "break up"?
Xiang Ran didn’t respond, just looked at the fat guy, thinking:
Am I really that obvious? Although I didn’t say it, it feels like it’s getting close…
He then glanced at the message on his phone and replied: [Arrived.]
After a long pause, the phone vibrated again: [Then go to bed early, good night.]
What?
Good night?
Is that it?
What time is it?
Going to bed so soon?
Xiang Ran felt even colder inside. He poked the screen, unsure of what to say.
In the end, he simply replied: [Good night.]
After sending it, he closed his eyes and pretended to sleep!
The voices of the two arguing nearby came back to him.
Coldly, he said:
“I think you should just go for it!”
He really needs a course on dating advice!
Or find an authoritative book to tell him what to do in situations like this!!!
“You think you should go for it? But the teacher you want to hear from won’t even teach it!”
The fat guy thought Ran Ge might not understand the topic; he just wanted to attend class. After all, top students are sensitive to words like "scores" and "exams."
“What do you want to hear?”
“How to make the person you love fall in love with you!” Xiang Ran sighed, realizing for the first time how smooth that sounded!
It’s really a twist of fate.
He must think about what to do if Liu Shuyao really regains her memory. What about their inexplicable relationship?
Should he take the initiative to ask her?
Or pretend he doesn’t know?
Did Liu Shuyao really like him before? And now?
Xiang Ran frowned, trying to sort out a few solutions for his current situation.
But even if he could list countless possibilities, they wouldn’t matter.
The final decision isn’t in his hands!!!
The campus beauty has lost her memory, that’s true, but he hasn’t!
Not long ago, facing Liu Shuyao’s relentless pursuit, he was moved and fell hopelessly for her, but now she remembers.
Sigh!
...
On the other side, after washing up, Liu Shuyao lay on her bed and soon began to feel drowsy.
Then she sneezed a few times.
“Achoo!”
“Achoo!”
“Got a cold?” Zhao Ying asked.
“Maybe I caught a bit of a chill, but it’s nothing.” Liu Shuyao’s mind wasn’t on that; she was still waiting for Xiang Ran’s reply on her phone.
However, gradually, she began to feel unwell.
Liu Shuyao buried herself under the covers, frowning. She felt a bit off and wondered if it was because of the chill from the mountain.
So uncomfortable.
She pulled the covers tighter, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, her hair messily spread across the pillow, no longer neat.
Her mouth felt dry, her throat burning.
In a daze, she thought she heard the dormitory door open.
It seemed like Li Meixun was back.
Someone was talking... but she couldn’t hear clearly.
The door seemed to close again.
“Ying... Yingying...”
Liu Shuyao tried to call out to Zhao Ying, but no one answered.
The extreme discomfort from the fever made her breathing rapid and shallow, as if every exhale was a torment.
Just then, Xiang Ran’s message came back.
Liu Shuyao let out a small whimper.
What to do? I really want to call my boyfriend.
But in the end, Liu Shuyao held back and replied with just a simple message.
How she fell asleep that night, she didn’t know.
The light in the dorm gradually dimmed, with only a faint glow filtering through the curtains onto the bed. Liu Shuyao felt herself sinking deeper into a feverish dream.
