After dinner, everyone went their separate ways.
When Xiang Ran and the others returned to the boys' dormitory, the dorm head had already come back from his date.
The Fatty had already been spreading the word about Xiang Ran’s victory over the financial department's ace, and many from the Computer Science Institute had heard about it.
“Dorm head, you wouldn’t believe how amazing Xiang Ran was today!”
“Just that one block—tsk tsk tsk, I bet that ace will be reminiscing about it for a while!”
“Hahaha, that rich kid is always acting tough just because he has some money!”
“But seriously…”
“How did you decide to go 1v1 with him today?”
The dorm head suddenly asked Xiang Ran.
The Fatty had also calmed down, and everyone had been basking in the glory of Xiang Ran crushing Zheng Fuxin’s confidence, but they were now puzzled about why he agreed to the battle.
“That’s true!”
“You usually don’t seem like the type to fall for someone’s immature provocation!”
Everyone knew that people like Xiang Ran, being an academic genius, usually rise above mundane challenges to focus on their research.
They all thought that Xiang Ran should have been immune to 90% of such trivial matters, given that his daily schedule was packed with coding, leaving little room for anything else!
This was odd! Something felt off!
So, everyone’s attention turned to Xiang Ran, who was about to head to the laundry.
“It’s nothing, I just couldn’t stand him!”
The man of the hour casually replied and walked away, leaving everyone to ponder.
“Whoa!”
“I just heard a hint of chivalry in Xiang Ran’s words!”
The Fatty muttered.
“What level is Zheng Fuxin to challenge our Xiang Ran to a solo match? He has no chance!”
“This would definitely make for a solid male lead in a drama!”
“What about me? What role can I get?”
The Fatty continued to press.
“Fatty, given your skills, it’d be a waste to give you a role. I think you’d be better off as a screenwriter, arranging roles for others.”
Qi Dong threw that out as he got into bed.
“Fair point! That’s reasonable!”
The Fatty was satisfied with that suggestion.
Xiang Ran took his clothes to the laundry room. He had left in a hurry earlier, not because he was afraid of their questions, but because he didn’t know how to answer them.
What he did today was indeed out of character, but when he saw Liu Shuyiao hide behind him, he didn’t think much of it...
Meanwhile, in the girls’ dormitory, it was almost lights out.
Everyone had started their late-night gossip, but Liu Shuyiao, the school beauty, rarely joined in; instead, she was focused on her sketchpad, writing and drawing.
“Shuyiao, do we really need to work this hard?”
“Isn’t this assignment due on Friday?”
Zhao Ying watched Liu Shuyiao, who seemed ready to pull an all-nighter, and couldn’t help but offer some advice.
“She might have been influenced by Xiang Ran; maybe being in love makes her all motivated?”
Li Meixun chimed in.
“Not at all~”
“I used to be pretty diligent too!”
“Your profile picture, we all know!”
“Every time assignments were due, it was like a life-or-death situation for you—never finishing until the last minute!”
Li Meixun quickly called her out.
“So what are you planning to draw this time? Seems like it’s going smoothly?”
Li Meixun asked while leaning over to take a look.
But upon seeing the outlines and lines, she shook her head.
“Seriously!”
“Guys, who understands?”
“The school beauty of Ningzhou University is such a romantic brainiac!!”
Hearing Li Meixun’s blunt words, Liu Shuyiao instinctively covered her face with her hand, pouting and mumbling
"This has just begun a little bit, how can you tell?"
"Tsk tsk tsk!"
"Teacher Wang told you to put more emotion into it, but he didn't say to pour your entire heart into it, right?"
"You should tone it down a bit!"
"What are you drawing?"
"Is it an obvious favoritism?"
Li Meixun continued to tease.
The school belle's face turned red with embarrassment, her ears flushed. She bit her lip, her gaze lingering on the painting in front of her.
It felt a bit tangled...
It seemed a little too obvious.
Should she adjust it slightly?
But if she changed it, it would lose its essence, and then it would be no different from that breakfast stall painting.
Forget it!
No changes!
Just subtly show off affection.
Today, her boyfriend's jump during basketball practice revealed hints of abs; it felt perfect for inspiration.
Using it as material would be fine too.
Hmm~ If it could be used as a canvas, that would be even better!
As Liu Shuyao thought about this, her mind drifted off elsewhere.
Until the sound of the lights turning off snapped her back, she slowly climbed into bed...
The first thing she did was reach for her phone and start her daily ritual of texting her boyfriend.
School Belle: [I found inspiration today~]
School Belle: [So happy~~]
School Belle: [Good rabbit.jpg]
Xiang Ran was initially planning to read two papers but stopped when he received the school belle's message. He put down his phone and replied.
Xiang Ran: [If you have a plan, go for it.]
School Belle: [Um... there's something I might need to ask you for~]
Xiang Ran: [What is it?]
School Belle: [I plan to use today’s basketball game as a background, but I don’t really understand basketball, so I might not get some of the moves.]
School Belle: [Can you find time to teach me a bit?~]
School Belle: [Please, please~~]
Xiang Ran: [You can search for some NBA player game videos online; they’ll be more professional.]
Xiang Ran thought he had given a reasonable suggestion.
School Belle: [I want to understand the points of force and such. Just watching videos might leave me confused.]
School Belle: [So pitiful.jpg]
School Belle: [Please, just a few moves, really quick~]
Xiang Ran thought for a moment. Since it was just two moves, it shouldn't be a big deal, so he agreed.
Xiang Ran: [Sure.]
School Belle: [Since you agreed, you can't go back on it~ Hehe~]
School Belle: [Good obedient.jpg]
Xiang Ran didn’t understand why Liu Shuyao said that, but he sent back a “no problem” emoji.
Meanwhile, seeing that her boyfriend agreed, Liu Shuyao immediately opened a certain orange app and started searching.
Some things, once you start down the path, become a cycle. It wasn’t until now, accustomed to being led on, that Xiang Ran realized couples often didn’t have any serious occupations…
Liu Shuyao shopped quickly, and soon she placed an order for several items, planning to compare them.
Even though it wasn't serious basketball, the gear still needed to be proper!
Hmm~…
If she was going to play basketball, a little physical contact shouldn't be a problem, right?
Would it be okay to get a little closer?
Could she hold him while shooting? It seemed like other boyfriends did that!
