Outside the shelter, the dark and quiet rainforest surrounded them.
A few tents made up the camp. Those on night watch bent down to come out, while others who should be sleeping stared into the thick forest, lost in thought.
Rest time was valuable; they had tasks to do when the sun came up.
“Miao Miao, why aren’t you going in to rest?”
In their team of over ten, four girls shared a tent. Wang Qiong and He Miao were close.
They mostly handled logistics and didn’t expect to defeat S-rank players; they just wanted to survive until the end of the game.
“I’ll go in soon. Be careful on watch. There are probably other players nearby planning to attack the shelter. If anything happens, call me loudly,” He Miao said, looking away.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.”
He Miao entered the tent, quietly took out a bottle of clean mineral water, and drank a sip with her back to the two sleeping girls.
Instead of lying down, she took out a short knife and sat up.
From the next tent, soft snoring could be heard. Everyone else was resting except for the watch.
---
“Aah!”
A scream rang out in the camp, waking everyone.
It was Wang Qiong’s voice.
When He Miao stepped out, she saw several main team members standing outside.
A cold wind brought strange sounds. Faint rustling came from all directions, and the endless forest stretched into darkness. Wang Qiong stood behind them, still scared.
When they turned on their flashlight, they saw the trees covered in big and small face spiders, with branches bending under their weight—there were at least hundreds of them.
A chill filled their minds, and everyone turned pale.
“Quick! What are you waiting for? Pack up and leave!” the leader whispered urgently.
The face spiders attacked first. In the thick darkness, threads quietly wrapped around the people.
Once caught, it was hard to escape. Those who had been sitting together eating biscuits just hours ago were now wrapped in cocoons.
Other poisonous creatures were nearby, and when someone took a few steps out, they met a venomous snake hanging from a branch. After being bitten, the wound swelled and turned black in just a few seconds. Some, just waking up, hadn’t tied their pants tight enough, and insects crawled in, starting to eat their bodies.
This was no rainforest; it was a nightmare.
Without enough medical supplies, a single bite could mean death.
The camp fell into chaos, and screams filled the air.
“Leave anything you haven’t packed! Let’s go!”
What good were supplies when their lives were in danger?
White threads wrapped around Wang Qiong’s arm, pulling her toward a tree. “Help!”
As the group fought and ran, they couldn’t look back, let alone help those who fell behind.
Only He Miao, at the back, turned around.
Wang Qiong felt a spark of hope, but it quickly turned to despair.
She stared at the knife in her chest and He Miao’s cold gaze.
“You—”
He Miao pulled out the knife, coldly saying, “You’re going to die anyway; just give me your points.”
Her ranking had dropped from second to third.
These people would never escape; not killing them was a waste. It was just using resources wisely.
The blood that sprayed attracted a swarm of unknown insects, and soon, the bodies of those behind were overwhelmed.

In the vast, dark forest, a loud noise suddenly erupted. Amid the rustling leaves, there were animal roars and human screams.
