Qin Mubai gently supported Ye Nianchu's head, adjusting her position to help her sleep more comfortably.
Being so close, the warmth of their breaths became hard to ignore.
His fingers paused for a moment over her fair face before he let them drop.
Qin Mubai had always been different from his peers. At seventeen, he had earned a master's degree, and there were very few things that truly interested him. He had never formed a close bond with anyone. However, when he liked something, he would find a way to obtain it.

On the fifth day of the game, only two players had been eliminated, and all S-level players remained. As time went on, survival became increasingly challenging.
Players felt the clear difference between ordinary and S-level players. Even without their abilities, ordinary players couldn't compete. However, they had numbers on their side.
Some ordinary players realized they had no chance unless they banded together. If things continued like this, the rainforest would become a hunting ground for S-level players.
Ambitious players were unwilling to accept their fate, hoping to achieve a leap in levels during this game. Many ordinary players began to cooperate, aiming to take down S-level players and seize their supplies.
At ten in the morning, the system announced the locations of two shelters. These shelters were more important than supply boxes and hotly contested.
Most players, except those who knew they were outmatched or alone, would not give up the shelters. Some teams even began fighting before reaching the shelter.
By noon, the first team arrived at the perimeter of Shelter No. 2. Four players stared excitedly at the clear stream.
After five days, they finally found clean water. Previously, the water they found had bugs in it, and even boiling and filtering it didn't help. They had witnessed a teammate suffer after drinking contaminated water, leading to their demise. If it hadn’t rained a couple of times, they wouldn’t have made it.
With the shelter's location revealed, rain was unlikely for the rest of the game. Everyone, seasoned players included, understood this.
“There are fish and shrimp in the water!”
“This great spot is so close to us!”
“That wooden house must be the shelter; it looks like no other players have arrived yet.”
The team rushed towards the wooden house just as another group of players appeared. A fierce battle broke out over the lone shelter.
Ye Nianchu sat on the roof of the wooden house, unwrapping a chocolate bar, the sweetness spreading in her mouth. Shielded by leaves, she and Qin Mubai went unnoticed by the fighters below.
So far, none of the players vying for the shelter had firearms; each equipped with just a short knife was already considered well-equipped.
As the battle raged, more players joined in. A group was hiding in the bushes to the left.
Suddenly, Qin Mubai turned his head, frowning at the dense trees behind them.
“What’s wrong?” Ye Nianchu asked.
“It seems there’s some noise.”
The thick trees blocked out any light, making it seem darker despite the high noon sun.
The vibrant forest felt oddly eerie.
After watching for a while, Ye Nianchu didn’t see anything unusual. The fighting had ceased, and five players emerged from the bushes, having eliminated their opponents, leaving only two to escape.
