If a regular person had seen it, they would be scared. But Ye Nianchu moved aside to avoid the attack and quickly cut the snake in half with her knife.
Without food, this could be a meal, but they weren’t at that point yet.
The game might provide some supplies later.
A small fire burned next to the tent, steam rising from the canned food, filling the air with a delicious smell.
Ye Nianchu picked up the warm beef can. Since entering this round of the game, she had been thinking about one question: what rewards would the system give to the top three players?
For regular players, the biggest reward would be leveling up to S-rank, as the system said this was a competition for upgrades.
But what would S-rank players get? They were already S-rank; what else was there to upgrade?
All these questions would only be answered when the game ended.
Right now, they needed to collect as many points as possible.
Finding a BOSS seemed to be the quickest way; defeating a BOSS earned unlimited points, and the stronger the BOSS, the more points they would get.
Night came quickly.
The whole rainforest got dark, with only the flickering fire providing light.
On the first night of the game, players wouldn’t go out to hunt. Going out without knowing the situation was just asking for trouble.
In total darkness, any dangerous animal could appear and attack.
Ye Nianchu and Qin Mubai took turns keeping watch.
The fire could scare off wild animals, but in the early morning, a sudden rain put out the flames.
Raindrops pounded on the tent, and Ye Nianchu sat with her legs pulled up, feeling that the long night was tiring.
Next to her, Qin Mubai breathed evenly, sleeping in a graceful position.
In such a dangerous place, she surprisingly felt a bit safe.
Maybe it was just a trick of her tired mind.
If they didn’t find supplies soon, they would face problems with food and water.
As she thought this, she heard a rustling sound, like something was quickly moving on the ground.
Ye Nianchu’s face turned serious as she slowly picked up her knife.
In the rain, she heard another sound getting closer to the tent. Looking through the clear window, she could only see darkness, and the noise was getting clearer.
The unknown was truly frightening.
Knowing something was nearby but not seeing it was scary.
Ye Nianchu quietly moved closer to Qin Mubai. Just before she touched him, he opened his eyes, grabbed his weapon, and caught her wrist.
In the dark, Ye Nianchu lowered her knife, placing her cool hand on his lips, telling him to be quiet.
Crack—
With the sound of a branch breaking, something landed on top of the tent.
Qin Mubai looked at the sagging tent roof, unable to tell what was outside, but he guessed it was something big.
Time felt slow, and the leaves rustled continuously.
The sounds above made her heart race.
Ye Nianchu held her breath, hoping the tent would stay strong and not collapse.
The creature outside didn’t stay long.
As the sounds faded away, her worried heart finally relaxed.
On the other side of the rainforest, though, the four-person team was not so lucky.
“Damn, they’ve found us!”
“What is that thing?! The knife won’t even kill it!”
In the darkness, several people with weapons ran through the rain, not having time to gather their supplies from the camp.
Birds in the trees flew away in a panic, and rats ran around on the ground.
